Hi, I'm Megan
I am from Vidor, Tx. I am a Pre-Med student and a convert to the Church of jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
About Me
I come from a familly of 5 brothers, one sister and one nephew. I love them all. We mostly enjoy being outside, riding bikes, swimming, hiking, fishing, 4 wheeler riding-anything that has to do with being outside. No matter what, i am always up for playing soccer, I love it. Also I can always go dancing, I love to go Latin dancing, my favorite dances are merengue and salsa! I am the happiest when I am around family and friends. I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends. I love to help others and hope to do so one day by becoming a Psychologist. I would like to have an emphasis on behavioral analysis. I am currently going to school to get my Associates at LDSBC to get a degree in Accounting and then I plan to transfer schools to get my Masters in Psychology. I like to interpret dreams, I like to draw, and i like going to museums. I love animals and I enjoy zoo's. I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS April 9, 2009. I attended the church and seminary classes for a year before I was baptized. My Collin baptized me. It was the happiest day of my life. And the best decision I have ever made. I believe there is a purpose for me here and that there is meaning in every step I have taken. I wish to help others realize and understand why they are here and how to get back to our loving Heavenly Father. I just want to help others be as happy if not more than I am with what I know.
Why I am a Mormon
My Collin invited me to his church, and I did not belong to any church so, I accepted his invitation. The first time I went I noticed the comfort, warmth and love I received from the members. After I had attended a few months Collins parents invited me to take discussions but I declined. I thought comitting to this was committing to baptism. But as I progressed in the church I began to understand that taking the lessons was a way to better understanding the church. So I accepted. I learned to pray for help in understanding and finding interest in the lessons brought to me. I had a lot of support from friends, members and nonmembers alike. I went through several missionaries-about 20 and had many discussions. But I never had the 'Aha!' feeling. I knew it was right but I wanted to feel it, I wanted an answer of assurance that this was real. At my next appt the missionaries came in and said "I know we were supposed to talk on the plan of salvation but we had a strong urge to teach something different”, he said "when I went to pray to ask what I should teach it was very clear, you need a lesson on prayer." The lesson was centered on D and C, 9: 7-9, as we read the verses I felt a light n my heart, a confirmation that this was the truth. It was clear of what I should do. So when I got home, I prayed. As I went to bed I felt the warmth and love and satisfaction of my question being answered. It testified to me that the Book of Mormon was true and that this Church is the true Church on earth today. So I set up a baptismal date and was baptized on April 9th 2009. My Collin baptized me. I could feel the love and care from the members and friends gathered in the room with me. Even as I came up out of the water I could feel the Lords love and happiness for me in making that very important decision. I know of the truth of the Gospel. And i know The LDS church holds the Truth. I know the Book of Mormon is A true testament of Jesus Christ and a Companion to the Bible.

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?
The Holy Ghost has testified to me again and again that this is the true Church of Christ on earth today and that the teachings it has for us are true and especially sent to us from God. I know the Prophet is a gift to us from our Heavenly father and that he could not be in his position if he was not a man of Christ. I know that if we choose to believe and have faith and pray that doors will be opened unto us and answers will be revealed. I have seen it happen to many people including myself. I have seen miracles happen in ways that are outstanding. I have witnessed members and investigators receive blessings in their lives from following these teachings and doing what is right. I have a testimony of the love of Christ. I know that he would not give me a testimony of something that was not true. I know that serving others is the pure love of Christ and that is why our missionaries go out to 3rd world countries today and that is why so many places have been opened unto them. I know that Christ is with me and that he is so happy that I have joined this church. And I know that without the Holy Ghost, there could not be a true church because there would be no testimony of Christ. The Holy Ghost influences me to do what is right and to make the majority of my decisions. It has given me a powerful testimony of Christ and of this church. It bore testimony to me when I was baptized that I made the right decision.
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
Weeks after I was baptized I decided to go to EFY, an LDS Youth Program. Although it was too late to sign up, a friends’ mom somehow contacted the director of the session and got me in. The day before I left for EFY my Bishop asked me if I would give a talk with him, I accepted of course and began to pray for help to know what to say. By the time I got to EFY, in which I was told to go to the beginning of the line and tell them who I was and they would give me my things I saw the director, anad as he passed I said 'hello, Brother Huso', He asked if we’d met and I told him who I was and he asked if he could have lunch with me the next day, so we did and as he asked about my baptism and how I came to the Church and I told him I was baptized 3 weeks prior and how I was expected to come back prepared to give a talk and he said to me “Megan, by the time you leave I promise you’re testimony will be strengthened and you will have a talk to give”. I hadn't thought much about this until THE Thursday, The big shabamm, when all 800 people attending the conference are gathered in the auditorium. We sang the songs we practiced all week long and watched the talent show and listened to talks. At the end the Director gives the concluding talk. So, as Brother Huso was giving his lovely talk he asked “How many converts do we have in this room? Stand if you were baptized within the last year, so I stood along with about 30 others, he said what about the last 3 months, 2, 1 month, by now I was about the only one standing so I sat, he said what about 3 weeks. We have a member in here that was baptized 3 weeks ago her name is Megan would you come down”. I didn’t go until about the third time he asked when I came down he said Megan how did you feel when you were baptized? As I looked at all 1000 people, I said, It was the most amazing feeling in the world, I wish everyone could feel that way. Let’s just say my prayers were answered. I know of the power of prayer, it is very real.
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Prayer is now essential to my life. I feel weak or wrong when I almost forget to pray before bed. I have recently taken up morning prayer and I do feel even better and more assured for my day. Prayer has helped me in so many ways. I can feel when my prayers are answered and try hard to remember that prayers are answered in different ways than what I want them to be. It is not a hard concept that the Lord know us best and knows what we really need better than we do, but it's still suprising when we get a different answer than we expected or hoped for:) Prayer helps me know my lord and savior is listening to me, and knows me. I feel hope and love when I pray and i know that is MY time with him and I k now he is listening and he cares. I was told once before that you are not really praying until you KNOW the Lord is Listening. Until you know he is there. Even if you don't get on eof those heart stopping- jaw dropping- oh my gosh- life changing experiences, We have to remember that the Holy Ghost whispers to us, it is not loud. So when we pray we have to remember to pray with meaning and intent and to remember to talk to the savior and believe he is listening. And then listen and wait for our answers.
How I live my faith
I have recently been released from my calling as a teacher at the LDS Church. When I was asked to be a teacher I was shocked that I was thought to be worthy and capable enough to teach the wonderful members of this amazing Church. I absolutely enjoyed every bit of my calling as a teacher. I was able to get to know the members of our Branch in way of relation by expressing my testimony of the church and sharing my experiences and strengthening my own testimony and confirming what I believe as I taught the subjects to others.. I believe by strengthening our testimonies, by doing what we are asked to do such as commit to our callings and reading, praying and smiling, that we allow ourselves to grow and live by our faith just by keeping our standards.. You can never stop progressing in this life, especially spiritually. It is not something you can read a book and know it and stop building your knowldege upon it. You have to continue learning and growing spiritually by praying, reading, pondering and listening to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. You can never stop these things, and as you do so, you will be living your faith.
