Diane.: Convert, Grandma, Working mom, Missionary, Temple Worker, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Diane.

I grew up in Maryland in the USA. I joined the LDS Church when I was 18. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I love to write, read scriptures, do genealogy, and talk about the gospel. I am learning the skill of storytelling. I love the Lord's music - gospel, hymns, modern. I have a temple marriage of over 30 years. We have 2 grown boys and one daughter-in-law. I have made mistakes throughout my life as a mother and wife, but the Lord has helped me heal and is helping my family heal.

Why I am a Mormon

My initial draw to the LDS Church was the doctrine of eternal marriage. My parents were getting a divorce and I hated it! I was a Methodist and though I loved the people at the Methodist church I attended, I didn't agree with everything they taught. I was a fan of The Osmond Brothers and subscribed to their family/fan magazine where they shared their religious beliefs as Mormons. I was immediately drawn to the idea that "families are forever". I took the missionary discussions and was baptized on my 18th birthday. I met my husband 3 months later while he was on his mission in my area. We were married two years later. We have struggled our whole marriage as we both have our own problems, but the Lord has helped us through them. We have progressed through the years and our marriage is the best it has ever been!! I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer! He is saving me and my family! Through His Atonement - He is healing us and bringing us closer to Him. He is ALWAYS there when we need Him! Without Him I am nothing! He is the reason for my successes and when I don't listen to Him, I fail. I love Joseph and Emma Smith and testify of Joseph as the Prophet of the Lord's Restoration of His true Gospel in these latter days. I testify that Pres. Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's Prophet on the earth today. This is the Lord's true church on the earth. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

Mormons go on missions to share the full truth, beauty, strength, and overwhelming love that we feel by being members of this great church and living the gospel principles it teaches. When someone has found the truth and it has set them free - they long to share it with as many as will listen. Giving up 2 years of our lives to share this truth is worth every minute of it and worth the sacrifice to do so!

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

When I listen to my "inner voice" - the Holy Ghost - I succeed and am protected. When I ignore it, I fail.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

The Atonement of my Savior Jesus Christ has had the most effect on my life. He suffered all things while suffering the Atonement. So, He understands what I am going through and knows how to help me. He heals me; He heals those I have hurt. He gives me comfort through the toughest of times. Because of His Atonement, I know that He will show me my weaknesses, help me turn them into strengths, and, forgive me of my many sins and mistakes.

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

As holy scripture, I read the Book of Mormon everyday and receive answers to my prayers and solutions to my problems. This help I receive increases my faith in a loving and kind Father in Heaven who knows me and my family and what is best for us.

Can you think of a specific challenge in your family that Gospel Principles helped overcome?

Repentance and forgiveness have been gospel principles in my marriage that have helped us stay together. My husband and I have been married for 33 years. We have argued and hurt each other many times. These two principles have helped us apologize, change our ways, forgive each other, and move on. My husband is a very humble, loving, gentle man. He is a great example to me of forgiving and moving on.

How I live my faith

As a Mormon, I have gained leadership skills and faced and overcome personal challenges that I might never have experienced had I not been a member. The Lord allows me to grow and help others around me with the talents He has given me. I have learned to teach adults and to speak in front of adults which is very scary at times. The Lord provided me the opportunity to be the Choir Director for our local church choir with a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in the group. It was unnerving, but the Lord gave me the strength and skills I needed to do the job. I have learned how to teach music and the gospel to children. I enjoy my membership in the LDS Church women's organization - the Relief Society. Together as women, we accomplish so much good in partnership with our Savior. There is a bond that we women share that I feel in no other organization! We love, support, uplift, and care for each other and our families. The Lord's hand is in all that we do as a group and as individual women.
Overall, all aspects of my life are connected to the gospel of Christ in some way or another. All I am, all I accomplish is because of my Savior.
