I'm a wife, Step-mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and a registered nurse. I grew up in Southern California, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have worked as a registered nurse for the past 26 years. I love to travel and experience other cultures. Through my career as a nurse, I have been able to care for people from many different cultural backgrounds. This has given me an even greater appreciation for the diversity in our world. I served as a missionary in the Dominican Republic among some of the most wonderful people in the world.

I have a wonderful family and love spending time with them. I am the oldest of 6 children of my amazing parents. I have been blessed to have grown up with many opportunities. I now spend time with my fabulous husband of 10 years, who is also a nurse! I consider myself a very lucky girl.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that are taught in this church..."His" church are true and that only through Jesus Christ am I able to return to live with my Heavenly Father someday. The gospel of Jesus Christ has shaped my life and guided my decisions. Because of the truths I have been taught, I have knelt in prayer and asked my Father in Heaven to reveal the truth to me. He did and because of that I have been blessed with an incredibly happy and fulfilling life and have been able to endure the many trials and challenges I have faced.

Personal Stories

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

The Holy Ghost has been a wonderful and constant influence in my life. He has guided me, inspired me, protected and taught me. I have felt his influence many times in my life and in many different ways. Shortly after I started working as a nurse, I felt confusion regarding the course my life should take. I prayed and asked for the Holy Ghost to help guide me. I made a decision to serve a mission for the church. As soon as I had made this decision I felt a peace and calm knowing that I had made the right decision. I know this feeling came from the Holy Ghost.

The best part about the Holy Ghost is that he has confirmed the truthfulness of my beliefs. I have felt an undeniable confirmation and burning in my heart and soul that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is teaching the pure, true and complete gospel of Jesus Christ and that the Book of Mormon is a true book of scripture and that Joseph Smith did see God the Father and Jesus Christ and was called to be a Prophet of God.

How I live my faith

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am referred to at my work as the "Mormon" and I am proud of it. I love having the opportunity to share my beliefs with those who ask. As a nurse I regularly have the opportunity to care for people in very stressful situations. I find that my faith in Jesus Christ and my understanding of the purpose of this life helps me provide compassionate care and try to help each of my patient experiences be a sacred encounter.

I am have spent the last 15 years working with the teenage girls in my congregation. I love these girls and the opportunity I have to help them learn things that will help them to make wise decisions throughout their lives. We have many opportunities to serve in our community and that enriches my own life. It is especially fulfilling to watch them grow and mature into wonderful women.

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

This is perhaps one of the most hopeful and promising aspects of our beliefs. I love knowing that through our Savior Jesus Christ and His atonement, we, all mankind will be resurrected and live forever. We believe that resurrection is a gift from Christ to all mankind, regardless of their belief in Him. " For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." ( 1Corinthians 15:22). What a relief to know that we will all live again. It takes some of the bitterness out of death.

We of course believe that our "heavenly rewards" will be based on our earthly actions. We believe that the gift of "eternal life" means that we will dwell forever in the presence of God our Father and His son Jesus Christ. This means that in addition to the gift of resurrection which we will all receive, if we are obedient to the commandments of God we will be with Him forever. The best part is that we have a loving Heavenly Father and a loving elder brother Jesus Christ who both want us to return to be with them. I am grateful for this knowledge and look forward to the day when I will return to be with them again and enjoy this blessing of "eternal life".

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

I think this is the question that I am most frequently asked. And as a woman and a member of this church, I consider myself an expert on the subject.

Mormon women are like any body of women--we're all different. We have different goals, we have different backgrounds, and we all have our own and very different struggles. But, there is one thing that unites us: and that is the love we have for the gospel, and the love that our Father in Heaven has for us. We are His daughters. We are oh so special to Him. We have been sent to this earth with talents and abilities that He knows only we can fulfill. These are things that build His kingdom--that lift, inspire, and strengthen those around us.

We believe that we are created equally. Women are not more special or more important than men. Men are not more special or more important than women. We are equal--but just because we are equal doesn't mean the things that we do are going to be the same, or even have to be the same. We work together in equality and together we accomplish what needs to be accomplished--and that can only be done as we work together.
