Hi, I'm Jason
I play and teach the trumpet for a living. I am lucky to have a great wife and 3 wonderful kids. And I'm also a Mormon.
About Me
I am married to a beautiful wife and we have three sweet children. I teach the trumpet at a university, play in orchestras, and also play the guitar. I have toured with orchestras throughout Europe. I have also lived in Brazil and Santiago, Chile. I really enjoy running and cycling. And I have been a Mormon since I was 15 years old.
Why I am a Mormon
When I was 15 years old, I visited an Mormon church for the first time. I went with some friends following a conversation we had about the church. Somehow, I had never heard of the Mormons before. I had never seen their missionaries, heard of the Book of Mormon, noticed a church building, or seen one of their famous "Family - it's about time..." commercials! In fact, I had played soccer while I was growing up next to an Mormon chapel and never knew it!
When I walked into the church building for the first time, I felt a special feeling that I had never felt before. It was a peaceful, calm feeling that everything was finally right. I felt that I had returned home. I commented to my friends that I somehow just knew that I wanted to join this church. I had never had this desire before and it was rather surprising. Nevertheless, they introduced me to the missionaries and I asked them to be baptized. After being taught and attending church for a number of weeks, I was baptized. Unfortunately, my parents or siblings did not join me.
I continued going to church, served as a full-time missionary for two years in Brazil, and married my sweet wife in the beautiful Salt Lake City Temple. I am motivated to continue being a Mormon because I know that I can be with my family for ever if we live a good life. I have learned that Jesus Christ really is our Savior. I want to help others learn of his love.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons go on missions?
I went on a mission because I wanted to help other people learn of Jesus Christ in the way that I knew about him. When I became a Mormon, my life changed for the better. I wanted to help other people experience these same happy feelings and experiences that I was. I felt a desire to give back to God and to other people for all that I had been given. Mormons possibly go on missions for a variety of reasons, but I went on one to share what I knew to be true and good with other people. I am so glad that I did!
How I live my faith
I live my faith by trying to share it. From the time that I became a Mormon, my life has been so much better. I want others to be able to experience the good things that I have. I know that those good things have come from God. I also try to live my faith by helping my children to learn about Jesus Christ. I want them to have what I didn't have as a child. I can see it already making a difference in their lives. In short, I feel happiest when I'm sharing these good things with others.
