I grew up making money at lemonade stands. Now I'm a college student dreaming of the lemonade stand days. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a college student. I have left sunny southern California weather to brave cold winters in Utah. During Christmas I enjoy coming home to fresh lemonade and sunshine. At school I am studying to become a teacher. After several changes to my major, I have settled with the idea of positively changing the world, one student at a time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate enough to be raised by parents who are Mormon. But as I got older, I had to decide what I personally believed. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. The more I learn about my relationship with God, namely that he is my Father in Heaven, the more I desire to please him. Through the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, I have come to learn of the things that I must do to return to Him. I need to have faith in Jesus Christ, repent, be baptized, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end. These simple steps bring a lot of happiness into my life. I have a purpose on this earth, to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ so I can return to live with God. That's why I'm Mormon, it makes me happy to know I have a purpose.

How I live my faith

I love being a Mormon, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Not only do I have the opportunity to go to church every Sunday, but to also serve throughout the week. I like to serve others because it reminds me that we are all brothers and sisters, children of God. I live my faith by serving others because that is the example Christ gave when he was here. He went about doing good and strengthening others. I learn of Christ's example through daily scripture study. As I read the Book of Mormon and Bible, I learn more of Christ. As I pray each day, I ask God what I can do to help those around me. I strive to be a faithful follower of Christ.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Our prophet today is Thomas S. Monson. He resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, but is the prophet for the world. Because Heavenly Father loves us, he has given us a prophet to lead us and guide us. Something that I find amazing, is that as Mormons we are not blindly lead by a prophet. If you want to know what the prophet is saying is true, pray about it. Ask God yourself and gain your own witness of the truthfulness of what the prophet teaches.

The president of the church today is the prophet of the world. His name is Thomas S. Monson. I know he is lead by God and leads God's church.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a great man and we revere him as such because of the great and important things he accomplished. We do not worship Joseph Smith or serve him. We study about his life, because of the great significance of Joseph Smith's first vision and the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the priesthood authority. It is a series of remarkable historical events.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Rochester, New York on a business trip and I found time to visit the nearby town of Palmyra and the Sacred Grove. I was able to see and study and review the circumstances surrounding the events and experiences of Joseph Smith. This was no chance happening or coincidence.

We worship Our Heavenly Father and His Son, the resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ.
