About Me

I am Dylan from Northern Utah. I love to work on the family farm, fix tractors, and get together with family. My family is small with only 2 kids. Pre-mission life has served me well as I have experienced the blessings that come from missionary service.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my personal experiences have drawn me closer to god. No matter what choices I have made in the past, the atonement of Jesus Christ always makes up for my shortcomings. Family and friends are extremely important to me, so being able to gather and relate to other mormons has been a real blessing.

Could you talk about your baptism?

My baptism holds a special spot in my heart, because of it's uniqueness. Most baptism candidates are baptized in a font, but I was baptized in the Bear Lake surrounding Idaho. My baptism was in late August, and the water was freezing cold. The lake was so unique, that all my cousins followed after me and were baptized in the lake as well.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in a such a way, that at the end of each day, I can kneel down and pray to my Heavenly Father without any regrets. By going to church and serving diligently in my various callings; I try daily to keep the commandments. The lord has blessed me with so many things in my life, that I strive to choose righteous decisions that would make him happy.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Mormons believe that family is the most central social unit. Families can be together forever through the atonement of Jesus Christ. Because families are so important, the church stresses family home evenings and vital family time.

The family is a key component to support us in God's plan for gaining immortality and eternal life. All of God's children (all the inhabitants that lived, are living, and will live on Earth) are inseperably connected to each other, both (physically) by our Earthly families and (spiritually) by our Heavenly Father.

Families help us to understand our divine heritage. In this, life takes on purpose and meaning. Our immortal spirits were created by our Heavenly Father before Earthly existance, and we are directly connected to Him in this way. As a spiritual family, our collective purpose on Earth is to follow the commandments of God that lead us to live in heaven with Him again.

Our spirits need to progress, learn, and grow. In order to achieve that, Earthly existance was created as our test. Our Heavenly Father knew that being exposed to opposing forces on Earth was the only way for us to gain knowledge and wisdom.

However, we will not always choose righteousness, and so our Savior, Jesus Christ, is that great mediator to pay the debt of our mistakes. He is the only way by which we can be saved from our sins and transgressions. He is the ultimate example by which direction we need to live our lives. With the support of our earthly kin, we can learn from each other, serve each other, and strengthen our mortal weaknesses by being disciples of Christ. Our families are a gift from God, and we can be together forever.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. We only worship God. Joseph Smith was not a god. He was a prophet. Just like Moses and Abraham and all of the other prophets in the Bible. He is not a god, we do not worship him, however, as a prophet, God used him as a tool to communicate with us by giving Joseph Smith revelation. God spoke to us through Joseph Smith. Therefore, we accept what Joseph Smith said to be the word of God.
