About Me

I'm an attorney. I enjoy waterfowl and upland game hunting. I like to hike with my family. I am the father of 7 and grandfather of 2 with a another on the way. Reading with my granddaughters is sheer delight.

Why I am a Mormon

I was reared in a family that were Mormons. The gospel of Jesus Christ has always been a central part of my life. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ. I believe Him to be the Son of the living God, our Father in Heaven. Through the restoration of the gospel, my family and I have been blessed with unity and love.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you?

Faith and repentance mean much to me. I am thankful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Through His Atonement, I am able to be forgiven for my sins and receive His mercy. My faith grows each day as I contemplate the marvelous gift of God's Son that enables me to return to His presence.

How I live my faith

Every day I devote time to prayer and study of the Bible and Book of Mormon. I seek to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost. I am a stake president with responsibility over about 4,000 members of the Church. I enjoy serving the Lord and help build strength among the Christian faiths in our community.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Tithing funds are used to build churches, temples, and provide an operating fund for the entire Church worldwide.

The money received from members in the form of tithing goes directly to the headquarters of the church where a council decides what will be done with the money. Here are some ways in which the tithing funds are used:
1. Build, maintain, and operate temples, meetinghouses, and other buildings.
2. Provide operating funds for stakes, wards, and other units of the Church. (These units use the funds to carry out the ecclesiastical programs of the Church, which include teaching the gospel and conducting social activities.)
3. Help the missionary program.
4. Educate young people in Church schools, seminaries, and institutes.
5. Print and distribute lesson materials.
6. Help in family history and temple work.

*It is important to note that tithing funds are not used to pay leaders of the church. All leaders of the church are volunteers and receive no form of pay.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Mormons believe that we are commanded to love all people as sons and daughters of God, regardless of age, sex, race, or sexual orientation. However, we believe that homosexual behavior is a serious sin and in direct violation with the commandments of God. We believe that marriage, between a man and a woman, is ordained of God.
