Jake: comic books, cancer, lymphoma, comics, DC, Marvel, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Jake

I've written several books, television shows, magazines, and comic books. I beat cancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a writer of books, magazines, TV shows, comic books, and more. I am a husband, father, young adult cancer survivor (Hodgkin's lymphoma--cancer free since December 2009.)

Why I am a Mormon

Throughout my life, I have seen the hand of the Lord in everything I've done. His restored gospel has given me the guidance and moral compass I have needed. I know that all the success I've attained in my writing career, and in personal life, has come from my loving Savior and our Heavenly Father.

The gospel of Jesus Christ, restored and found in its fullness in the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gave me the strength to fight my disease.

The Bible, the Book of Mormon and the living prophets speak the true words of God. Together they provide a sure foundation and are a source of wisdom, strength, and spiritual understanding that surpass all understanding.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Over my lifetime, I have faced many struggles. I've had many questions about existence. I have felt the burdens of day-to-day life. At the same time, I have seen the Lord's blessings everywhere in my life. Prayer is a chance for me to seek God's help in my struggles and challenges. More importantly, prayer provides me the opportunity to thank a loving Heavenly Father for His blessings. I love prayer. I love having the ability to talk personally with the supreme being of the universe. It is an indispensable part of my life.

How I live my faith

I love studying the gospel of Jesus Christ, and sharing it with others. I've had many opportunities to do just that in my life as a Mormon.

But, more important to me is the opportunities I've had to roll up my sleeves, and help others out in whatever they may need. I've laid cement, help people find jobs, been a listening ear, helped people move, and so much more. This is, to me, true religion. Helping and loving others. We are all one great human family, headed by a loving Father in Heaven. We can all make each other's struggles and trials lighter, easier. Simply because we are family. To me, that is what Jesus would do.
