Gary Bronson: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Gary Bronson

I grew up in California. I'm an IT executive. I love sports and flyfishing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up I loved sports, played basketball and football. Learned a lot about hard work and teamwork from some excellent coaches.

I'm married to an incredible woman and we just had our 25th anniversary. We have 7 children ranging in age from 24 to 9.

Before marriage, I served a 2 year mission for my Church in Iowa. I graduated from college and have been working in Information Technology for around 25 years. I've worked in Senior IT Executive positions including an officer in a fortune 100 company and a CIO for a mid-size company.

I enjoy flyfishing when I have the chance.. still enjoy sports-just can't run as fast or jump high anymore! But my favorite hobbies are watching my kids perform. Whether in band, choir, drama, sports, plays... it always brings a tear to my eye and joy to my heart as I watch my children grow and do better than I did!

Why I am a Mormon

I know that there is nothing I can do of myself to return back to my Heavenly Father. It is only through the atonement of Christ and what he has done to enable me to return and live with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
The mormon religion teaches us to be good Christians and I have learned for myself through various spiritual experiences and through prayer that living the gospel of Jesus Christ is what brings true happiness and meaning to our lives.
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know it is Christ's Church here on earth and is lead by a modern day prophet just like when Moses was leading the children of Israel.

Personal Stories

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

In the corporate work place, living what you know is right will always keep you in the right. Maintaining your integrity and being honest is very important. Although you will be challenged at times, as you are honest it is easier with each following decision.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

The Savior's example of charity and love has influenced me the most. People that treated him so bad and would not give him the respect he deserved--he still was able to look past their actions and love them. He was always willing to give of himself regardless of how they treated him.

So when he tells me to love my enemies or people that aren't nice to me, He has set the example and although I can't be as good, I have learned that it helps me be a better person and less prideful by focusing on 'charity' or the pure love of Christ. Looking past the actions of others and trying to look at all people as a child of God.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

Serving a mission is an opportunity to demonstrate your faith in Christ. It is like paying tithing with your time - 2 years of your first 21 years. It is not easy to be away from friends and family and it also costs a lot of money to support yourself out on a mission. However, the reason you go is because you love the Lord and you are fulfilling your responsibility to spread the gospel.

How I live my faith

A key aspect of living my faith is demonstrated in how I treat people. I can have the scriptures memorized and go to Church every Sunday--but if I don't demonstrate my love to other people I will be missing out on the true blessings of the gospel.

So it starts at home where I strive to be a good husband and father. Spending quality time with my family is most important to me. I'm working very hard to improve my patience and teach my children how to live by being a good example of a disciple of Christ.

At work and home I try to be the same person--a Christian. Dealing fairly and honestly with all those I come in contact with and try to do what I can to uplift them and help them to be a better person.

Over the years, I have taught Sunday school for young children, Youth and Adults. I've also served in a variety of leadership roles within the Church.

I enjoy working with the youth and receive a great deal of satisfaction helping them gain a sense of accomplishment as they compete in sports, build pinewood derby cars, earn awards, advance in scouting and develop their talents and their own faith.

I have coached various youth sports teams and volunteered with the United Way in various events.

I do go to Church every Sunday and renew my covenants that I made when I was baptized. It strengthens my testimony and faith as I gather and worship with others that have prioritized Jesus Christ in their life.
