Hi, I'm Dan
I'm a high school social studies teacher, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I love learning. Cultures, current events, art, music, technology, languages, dance, history. You name it and I'd be interested in learning more. I love to teach and help people get a new look on their world. I also like to sit back with my wife and watch movies or read a book.
Why I am a Mormon
People have asked me why the things the church teaches sound so good, like they're too good to be true. It's because they ARE true. Forgiveness, the importance of families, eternal marriage, a loving Father in Heaven who knows me and loves me. I cannot count the millions of small things that I have learned that just ring true, and make sense out of a senseless world. It's been enough to give me faith to live the gospel, and then I've seen how it impacts my life and makes things better. That peace has carried me through the best and worst of my life.
How I live my faith
I teach high school, and most of the kids I deal with have rough pasts and unstable futures. I try to share what I can about my standards and how they have helped me. Like staying away from drugs and alcohol, getting an education, accepting people different than you and treating others with respect, and finding dignity in hard work. I do not preach to my students, but I do tell them that there is a different way of living that will let them grow to reach a potential that they might not see in themselves. Their Father in Heaven sees it, and I try to show that to them.
