Jessica.: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Jessica.

I grew up in Idaho. I'm a Registered Dietitian. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a daughter, sister, wife, and soon-to-be mother. I grew up working on our small family farm in Idaho. I love to bake, especially cookies (which is ironic coming from a Registered Dietitian!). I love being outdoors. And though I'm an amateur, I love to garden.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home where Mormon beliefs were strong. My parents did their best to teach me right and wrong, how to be a good person, and how to be happy. As part of what they taught me, they shared their testimonies of this church. And as I saw how they lived, the choices they made, the way they spent their time, I realized that those things made them truly happy. And that happiness ultimately stemmed from their dedication to God.

As I grew up, I wanted to know for myself if my Heavenly Father (how I refer to God) loved me and if this church was true. I did a lot of thinking and pondering. Even without kneeling in formal prayer, I felt that my Heavenly Father did love me and that this was His church. And then as I knelt in prayer to ask my Heavenly Father if these feelings were right, I knew they were.

As I've lived and had many life experiences, these simple truths are what continue to bring joy to my life. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and that if I follow the teachings of His church, I will continue to have happiness.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is a very important part of my life. It is the time that I have to talk to my Heavenly Father and He has the opportunity to talk to me. I can share my worries, concerns, problems, joy, happiness, and gratitude. As I pray, I feel peace, comfort, direction, hope, and love. Sometimes my prayers are formal, meaning I kneel and speak out loud. And sometimes my prayers are informal, simply a thought directed toward my Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

Currently I'm working with the Cub Scouts in our area. My husband and I work with three 8-year-old boys. We feel that the Scouting program is instrumental in developing young boys to become better men.

I also live my faith on a daily basis by helping others. Whether that means helping my sister with her kids, saying hello to a neighbor, or listening to a friend in need, I do my best to find ways to serve those I see every day.

We also attend our church meetings on a regular basis. At home we pray and read the scriptures. We choose carefully the media we watch and listen to.
