Hi, I'm Zach
I grew up in Utah. I come from a big family that I love. I love to play soccer. I'm a Mormon
About Me
Like I said, I love to play soccer. I have played college soccer. I enjoy playing the guitar. I have a large family and they're all wonderful. Next to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, my family means the most to me. Right now I'm a missionary, and I absolutely love it!
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon because it brings happiness and joy to my life that nothing else could. I feel truly happy when I follow Christ and His commandments.
Personal Stories
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
The Book of Mormon is what convinced me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints(Mormon) is the true church.
I wasn't an active member for many years. Then slowly I started going back to church off and on. However, I wasn't committed to living the teachings.
One Sunday during a Sunday school class a scripture was read from the Book of Mormon. The scripture is Alma 34:33. It says, "And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed." At that moment I knew I could no longer procrastinate. I needed to change and do it now!
Throughout the day that scripture kept coming to my thoughts. I read it over and over again.
Through that experience the Holy Ghost bore witness to me of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Even to this day I know I can find answers to my deepest questions and bring me closer to my Heavenly Father.
Why do Mormons go on missions?
I came on my mission because I love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I wanted everyone to feel the same joy that I feel from living the gospel. I know that the message I share will help people live more fulfilling lives. It will bless them in ways they never could have imagined, and it will bless me and my family.
How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?
Knowing the Plan of Happiness has had a dramatic influence on my life. I believe it's one of the biggest reasons I am where I am today.
When I was 13 my mom was in the hospital, and just about to have my youngest sister two months premature.
My dad had a history of having grand mal seizures when his stress levels got high. Needless to say his stress level was very high. While my mom was at the hospital most of my siblings went to stay with relatives to ease the burden and stress on my dad. However, my two older brothers and I stayed home with our dad. On May 16, 1999 my dad had a grand maul seizure while sleeping and passed away. My brothers and I had to inform many of our relatives. A little less than a week later my mom gave birth to my youngest sister.
Over the next few months it seemed as though I was walking around in a fog. My entire world had been turned upside down.
During that time I had many struggles and questions. One of the things I found most comfort in was knowing that I would be able to be with my dad again someday.
To this day I can look back and see that the knowledge I have regarding the Plan of Happiness kept me close enough to the gospel to eventually return to full activity. It has continued to bring peace during those times that I have lost other loved ones. I know I can be with them all again someday.
How I live my faith
Right now I'm living my faith by serving as a full time missionary. For the next two years I will be spreading the gospel, and helping people feel the happiness that I feel through the gospel. I do my best to treat everyone with kindness and love. I help those around me who are struggling.
