About Me

I am a financial executive with a global real estate development company. I have a beautiful wife and five very talented and beautiful children. I love to spend time with my family, actively contribute my time and talents to the Church, and play golf when I have a little extra time. I love music and work one evening each week with my voice instructor to try to develop and improve my talents as a singer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church. My father was also born into the Church with a rich Mormon Pioneer heritage. My father's ancestors on both sides were Mormon Pioneers and made great sacrifices for their families and their faith. My mother was born in Brazil and was a convert to the Church. She also comes from a rich pioneer heritage, albeit somewhat different from my father's.

I had many experiences in my youth that witnessed to me the truthfulness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. As I have grown and matured, I have come to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I served a mission in Chile, in South America. I chose to serve a mission because I had been greatly blessed by my participation in the Church and had a sincere desire to share the truth that I have come to know with others. It is a sincere love for all of God's children that inspired me to devote two years of my life to serving the wonderful people of Chile.

How I live my faith

I am very active in my local church unit. I have worked with the youth for many years as a leader and teacher. I love to spend time with the youth trying to help them navigate their course in a very challenging and confusing world. I am very involved with the Boy Scouts of America, which is the activity arm of the Young Men's program in the Church.

I strive to live my faith by being a good husband, father, neighbor and friend. I try to put my personal convictions into action in all my interactions with people.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

One of the things that I really like about the Church is that none of our leaders is paid for his/her work in the Church. I probably spend at least 10 to 15 hours per week doing church work and receive no financial remuneration for my labors. Tithing is used to buy land and build buildings such as local meetinghouses, and temples and to pay the ongoing expenses of local units of the church. We believe that these funds are sacred and their are very strong controls in place to insure that church funds are safeguarded and used only for authorized church purposes. The fact the no one is financially enriched for participation in the Church is another testimony to me that the Church is true.

Tithing is paid in faith. I know these funds will not be misused. I pay tithing because it is a commandment, and because I love God and want to give Him back a small porion of what He has given me, to futher build up His church. These funds go to build and maintain church buildings and temples and other like expenses. Our clergy is not paid. There is no collection plate. We simply pay our tithing, our fast offerings, we share what we have gladly. This is God's way. For this is God's church.
