Hi, I'm Alex
I am a Mormon. I love my family.
About Me
I write software for a living and have a small family with two kids. I enjoy spending time with my family and learning new things. I also like cooking (and the fruits of cooking, e.g., the food!).
Why I am a Mormon
I was originally a Mormon because I was raised that way. I was born into the Church. Growing up in the Church does not mean you don't have to be converted, EVERYONE needs to be converted. My testimony has grown over time by seeing the blessings that come from following the commandments and from asking in faith to know if the Gospel is true.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons go on missions?
Originally when I was mission age, I didn't want to go on a mission. My first year at college changed all that. I had the experience to teach one of my roommates about the Gospel and to tell him about some of the things that I had learned growing up. Having the opportunity to share what I had been taught really changed how I viewed a mission. I turned in my papers and received a call to serve. While in the MTC I had some medical issues that made it so I couldn't complete my mission, but I know that it was the correct decision to accept the call and go forth and do what the Lord needed me to do.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by not being afraid to be "peculiar." The Lord says that His people will be a peculiar people, we don't fit in with what the world might approve of, we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and that is why we are peculiar.
