I'm a little crazy, but who isn't? I'm just living life to its fullest. And I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm a mostly normal 20 year old college student. Currently studdying to be a nurse at the University of Wyoming. I'm also working on my minor in music. I like to sing! No I love to sing!!! It makes me the happiest when I can inspire someone else just by singing. I'm an only child! Weird huh? I wish I had more siblings but thats just what life gave me. Two awesome parents and great friends and family. I like a good book just as much as the next person. I'm no super athlete but I flourish in fresh mountain air! I grew up in Colorado so thank goodness for the mountains. I love helping people and plan to travel out of the country somewhere to serve people of different cultures and backgrounds sometime in the near future. This life is tough but beautiful and we have to make the best of it and help eachother along the way.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I choose to be. I choose to be a part of this church because it helps me be the best I can be no matter who I am. Without the gospel of Jesus Christ I would still be me. Yes I might be fine and dandy with what life is and has been. But because of my knowledge and faith in God and Christ, I feel purpose in everyday life. I know I am worth something more than just a paycheck or a movie stub or a daughter or a friend. I know that I am a child of God. I know that life is more than just a random existence. I know that we are all here because our Father in Heaven loves us.He has a plan! Its hard to believe sometimes when life is difficult, but I know that if I make a mistake or do something wrong, I can be forgiven. I can still become the best I can be. Through Jesus Christ anything is possible. Sounds cheesy but its real. Christ did suffer. He died for me! So I might be able to return to God someday. He did it for all of us. Its quite amazing to me how God loves us all equally as a huge mass of people yet he knows us personally. He listens to our prayers and thoughts and He answeres and comforts us. He has given us so many opportunities and tools to help us get back to Him. Going to church is just the begining. Through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ I am able to know what God wants for us from a living prophet on this earth today! Just like Moses and Noah, we have a prophet that leads and guides us in our day. Having the priesthood restored to its fullness, just as when Jesus was on the earth, we are able to do amazing wonderful things to help others and recieve blessings from God. Its truly is awe inspiring how much God loves us all. I am a Mormon because I feel purpose in life being able to partake in such awesome miricals and blessings here and now. I choose to be a Mormon because I want to be. Although I was raised in this gospel, I question things and I had to find out for myself if this was really true! I prayed. I knew God would hear me and he comforted me with reasurrance that this work is real! The overwhelming joy that I felt in my soul was undeniable. I know God and I know he wants me to have joy in this life. To live with a purpose. To try my hardest to be the best I can. And even if I'm not perfect, I can still do great things. Small and simple things but great things to help others come to know this joy and love. Thats why I am a Mormon. There is no where else I would rather be. Having this joy and understanding and wanting to share it with others just for the simple reason of wanting others to be happy. Just as Christ and God want us all to find our way back to Him.

Personal Stories

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

Its apart of the plan for us all to have some gifts and talents. It makes us each unique and gives us the ability to touch other people's lives. Recognizing them can sometimes be difficult and God won't always reveal them to us when we want them. I sometimes haven't wanted to accept my talents because they take work to keep them going. But I have been given the gift of caring and the talent of song. God gave me a lot of love to share with the world. And so I feel like its been my gift to care and help others in need of some lovin. Just selfless caring for others. It makes me happy to know I have made someone else happy by simply loving them as another child of our father in heaven. To brighten their day with a simple hello or listening to whatever they have to get off their chest. I'm there ready to love no matter what.
Music has been somthing I've had to work at. I realy enjoy singing and have been singing for as long as I can remember. But to understanding it as a blessing in my life and others came much later in my life. I realize now that I actually am good at what I do for a reason. It brings me so much joy to be able to move someone to feel and be inspired by the spirit through my voice It's so empowering! I know God loves me because of this ability to help others. I believe we were sent here to live not only for our own benefit but for the purpose of helping eachother reach the same goal. To make it back to our father in heaven. We all help and make an impact in different ways. That is why our father has blessed us all with individual talents and gifts.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is the one time I personally get to talk to God. YES! You and me, we can talk to God everyday. Prayer is what keeps me going through the day. Knowing my father in heaven is listening and knows my fears and successes, helps me feel more purpose in everyday life. But more importantly, I can depend on him to be there when no one else is. When I may not want to tell anyone else about what I am feeling, when no one else will understand or may turn the other way, God listens. I know that God knows my personally. He does care about my well being. I am worth just as much as anyone else in his eyes. When I am feeling small and insignificant, He is there. He wants me to be happy. Prayer is my chance to feel at ease with the world. Prayer helps me to understand my Father's plan for me personally.

How I live my faith

I attend church and many activities regularly. I, personally, help organize activities at my church's university institute. Institute is where many other students gather to worship and interact and serve each other. I have the oportunity to come up with excelent events that bring us all closer together and even reach out to others. We have tournaments and games and activities to help us get to know eachother better. We also do a lot of service for people in the community.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The prophet today is President Thomas S. Monson. He, like many other prophets mentioned in the bible, leads and directs all people, everywhere of this time to do what the lord asks of us. He is able to recieve important revelation for our time about problems facing us today. Pres. Monson is called of God just as Adam or Moses. He can help us to understand the Lord's will for each and every one of us. He speaks with God and loves us all and wants us all to be happy and return to live with our Father in Heaven.

President Thomas S. Monson is our current prophet. He is called of God to receive revelation for us today. I am grateful for living prophets and apostles to lead and guide us in this troubled world. I know that they are called of God, and if we follow their counsel we will be happy.

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Modesty is almost a precursor for chastity. They are the built upon the doctrine of the sanctity of our body. By being modest in our actions and dress we outwardly show our understanding that we, as a soul, are more than just an object to be flaunted. Our body is a gift from God and he has asked us to save intimacy until after we are married. We show respect for him and ourselves if we hold off until marriage and always dress and act modestly. This principle can be taught to children through example, first and foremost, but also by being honest and explaining to them the importance of it and why we are asked to live it. Use the Holy Ghost as your guide as you teach your children.
