Sherri Smith: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Sherri Smith

I'm a Mormon. I live in Heppner, Oregon and my husband and I are proud parents of 5 children.

About Me

I am the proud mother of five children; 4 boys and 1 daughter. My oldest is serving a mission in Sao Paulo Brazil. Our next oldest is currently attending OSU in Mechancial Engineering. The other three are ages 7-16. My husband and I run a consulting company and he serves in the Oregon Legislature.

We are blessed!

Why I am a Mormon

I once read a short story about a young woman who had a dream of playing on a school playground. The equipment was shiny and beautiful (not to mention a tremendous amount of fun). She soon grew tired of playing and wondered - what else was she to do? The play equipment, while beautiful, was surely not all she was meant to do. She wandered over to the windows of the schoolhouse and looked inside. Others were learning, reading and talking. She wanted to be a part of that learning. She yearned to know what else she was meant to do on that playground.

There is so much more to this life than having fun on the equipment. I wanted to be a part of finding out why we are here and what we should be doing to return to our Father in Heaven.

Personal Stories

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

Read the scriptures! Everytime I have struggled with something, I turn to our Father in Heaven in prayer. He often sends his messages through the scriptures I read!

How I live my faith

I teach lessons in a women's class. I also council the President of this auxiliary organization. Most importantly, my family and I hold Family Home Evenings and study the scriptures to learn of the things Heavenly Father would have us do on this earth.

We have a program that is called "Visiting Teaching", where we go and check on those who are assigned to us. I visit 3 women in my church. It's a great time to make sure they are not in need of anything and to give a spiritual thought to them. So often, you find a sister who is in need of something; whether it be spiritual or of a worldly need. This is my chance to help another.
