I'm serving a full time church mission in Vladivostok Russia and I'm obviously a mormon.

About Me

I'm studying Humanities at a University. I'm pretty all over the place. I have a hard time focusing on just one thing very hard or for very long. I have a long to-do list of things I want to try. Life to me, is all about exploring and all about just doing what makes you happy. I've never been competitive, or felt a need to be the best in any certain area, I just want to be able to do lots of things well enough that I can get joy out of them.
I love observing people. I love finding beauty in not so obvious places. I love talking about God. I love life.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because this gospel enriches my life. IT makes everything more beautiful and more worthwhile. Being an active member of this church gives me a joy and satisfaction that I have not found anywhere else.
The main reason I guess, is because I love Jesus Christ, and have a testimony of his atonement and sacrifice on my behalf. I know that the only way I can love him is to obey his commandments and I know that this gospel has to most accurate information and most scripture on how to follow him. I'm so grateful that I've been blessed by God to be a part of this church.

Personal Stories

What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?

I've been blessed in so many ways because of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the gospel. I've been blessed because I've been sealed to my family for time and all eternity, which is also amazing. And I've been blessed with happiness because my lifestyle is healthy spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
Most of all I've been blessed with the peace that comes after repentance. Through Christ's atonement, I have been blessed to be able to repent and to have my sins washed away. That is the ultimate blessing for me.

How I live my faith

Well, I go to my church meetings regularly, I take institute classes about the scriptures and the gospel. I visit other members of my ward at least once a month and share gospel messages with them. Basically my whole life revolves around the church. My calling in my ward is to organize activities for the female members which help promote unity and knowledge of a variety of subjects. From yoga to photography we do many activites to increase our talents and abilities.

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Mormonism is another name for the lifestyle of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We're called "Mormons" because of the Book of Mormon which is a volume of sacred scripture that is unique to our church. We believe in the gospel that was put on earth by Jesus Christ himself, which was lost in the great apostacy, and was restored again by the prophet Joseph Smith.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Some call Mormonism a cult because it is not a "traditional" Christian church. The primary complaint of the "traditionalists" (generally Protestant Churches) is that we do not believe in the doctrine of the trinity as it relates to the nature of the Godhead. The doctrine of the trinity was codified in the Nicene Creed in 325 AD, many years after the death of Christ and the Apostles. It basically says that the Godhead, The Father, Son and Holy Ghost, are one being in "substance." Since Mormonism does not accept this doctrine, they say we believe in a different Christ than they do and therefore are a cult. It is curious that this "trinitarian" doctrine is not taught anywhere in the Bible.

Mormons believe the Bible is the Word of God. The Bible (and the early church established by Jesus and His Apostles) teaches that the Godhead indeed consists of The Father, Son and Holy Ghost. But, it teaches that they are: 1) three distinct individuals as expressed in Acts 7:54-60 where Stephen is being stoned. "He being filled with the Holy Ghost looked up steadfastly into heaven and saw Jesus standing on the right hand of God." And it teaches 2) they are one in purpose, not in substance (John 17 where Jesus offers his intercessory prayer, particularly verses 20-23.) This is what Mormons believe.

It is noteworthy that the early Christians were called the "sect of the Nazarenes" (Acts 24:5) and were considered a cult by the Sadducees and Pharisees, the predominant religions of the day.
