I'm serving a mission in Florida. I love hot weather fortunately. That's me standing in a cotton field. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I never knew I was a clean person until I came on a mission. Then I found out just how little Clorox is appreciated in the world. Organization is a wonderful thing too. But I get the most fun out of helping others become clean and organized. That's mostly what my mission is for, to help clean up others both physically and spiritually.
Growing up I played a lot of soccer but my new favorite thing is to go hiking in Southern Utah. I was also a police cadet for Murray City. We helped the S.W.A.T. team with target practice, and lightened some of the paper work for the officers. Occasionally we got to go on undercover buys, very fun, but it sometimes added to the paper work.
I enjoy learning.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I've grown up in a Mormon home and have truck loads of Mormons on boths sides of my family, I still had to decide for myself why if I wanted to be one. I could always feel a difference in my life between when I was going to church, doing what my parents told me, and staying out of trouble, then when I was neglecting my spiritual side, putting church things on the back burner, and doing whatever I wanted. But all that aside, while I was at college I finally decided to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. The feeling I got from doing that has helped me to know that Jesus Christ is the Savior. I learned that in order to have a successful, happy life, and to live with God after this life is over, I need to keep His commandments. His commandments don't constrain me, they guide me because God knows what will help me grow and what will stop me from progressing. Coming to know that God has a prophet on the earth that teaches His real character, attributes and commandments has helped me to make all the big decisions in life that leave me happy and peaceful.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

Oh, a good cleaning analogy! When you are cleaning the car, you can't just stop at vacuuming. Once something looks better than it did before, you want to clean the windows and the dashboard and the tires and scrub the whole thing.

How I live my faith

The ways I try to live my faith by becoming like Christ is service. Service is one of my favorite things to do because I can see the results of what I have done and know that I helped. I've laid a brick sidewalk for someone while wearing a white shirt and a tie, but it was the best time I've had! It gives me more faith to help others when I know the things I can do are sometimes things that people could not do for themselves.
And I love how much service other Christians like to give. The other day we were on the way home from a baptism, and there was a man in the road pushing his truck and steering it by himself. We pulled over to help him and as we started to jog over to help, there was already 2 trucks and stopped in front and behind him, pushing him and getting out a tow rope to take him to gas station. We were one of the first ones there and we hardly got to help because of how quick everyone else was.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Anything that's wholesome, happy, living and breathing. Just sitting and looking at the valley, or walking up a canyon, being outside in general helps me think of a greater purpose. I recognize what He's created, and it turns my thoughts towards Him.

Everything in nature tells me that there is a God. The universe is so ordered, so perfectly in harmony. If you really study our wonderful little planet, you'll learn that it is so amazingly unique to be able to sustain life, that there is just no way the earth and its inhabitants were merely created by chance.
The most important reason I know there is a God, though, is because I have felt his presence in my life. Through prayer, I have built a relationship with him, and as such, I love him and know that he loves me.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. I've never even met the man.

One night I was on the front row of a concert. A big star came to the edge of the stage and held out his hand. EVERYONE rushed forward, climbing over each other, pushing and wedging themselves along, just to touch him. I almost got caught up in that too, and was about to rush ahead when a little voice kicked in "He's just a man. What's the big deal?" At that moment I vowed to never adulate anything less than deity. I will not go to my knees for anyone but a Loving God.

I respect Joseph Smith like I respect any man who tries his best to live according to his conscience. I hope maybe one day I'll get to chat with him over lunch--or over whatever kind of meal they offer in the life beyond. But I cannot worship a man, for why should I place and value one person any higher than another?
