About Me

I work at home as a piano teacher and a writer. My longtime dream of being published is coming true this summer. I love my husband and kids and am just learning how great being a grandma is.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church, and continue to be faithful because I've been blessed by its teachings. I had cancer 5 years ago. Without question, my faith in Christ pulled me through that experience and many other trials life sends my way.

What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?

Five years ago, I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Faith in Jesus Christ carried me through that experience. He was there to give me strength through difficult and painful days, and calmed the fear that threatened to overcome me. I am so grateful for that blessing, but although that experience was perhaps the most dramatic of my life, the truth is that he blesses me every day, in much more ordinary ways. He is always there.

How I live my faith

The Church helps me make Jesus Christ central in my life. I play the organ for my congregation and organize activities for the members. I love to serve as a small thank you for the many blessings God has given me.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and it is the central belief of our religion. We believe that he died for us all, and through the Atonement, he paid a ransom for our sins so that we can live again with God.

We absolutely believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe that He was the God of the Old Testament. Under the direction of the Father, He created the earth. He spoke to the Old Testament prophets such as Noah, Abraham and Moses. He was born to the virgin Mary in Bethlehem. He walked among the people of Palestine, working many mighty miracles. He suffered and died for our sins. He rose from the grave and ascended to Heaven to stand on the right hand of the Father. We believe that He appeared alongside the Father to the prophet Joseph Smith. Today, He is at the head of our church and leads it through the prophet and twelve apostles. He will come again to reign upon the earth with all those who have faith in Him. Through Him, and Him alone, we can be forgiven for our sins and receive eternal live in the Kingdom of God.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We all have the freedom to pursue happiness in their own way, and I would even be willing to allow that some desires may be genetically given. This does not make our desires right. In the scriptures we read " For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord." (Mosiah 3:19) We all have "natural desires" that place us in opposition with God's purpose and desires for us and we must each seek to correct them if we wish true happiness.

I sympathize with those whose desires are powerful and poignant; you face a sore trial indeed. The scriptures give us hope though; "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." (1 Corinthians 10:13) God is merciful and Christ is compassionate, while there may be yet an effectual struggle to be had perhaps for many years or the rest of our lives full repentance and change is possible.

If a homosexual individual desires to continue as such and marry only by the laws and rites of the state, then I have no qualms, I will do my utmost to be a friend to such an individual. I only ask that my rights, beliefs, and Church are respected.
