I'm an accounting masters student. My wife and I have been married for almost 3 years and we have an 18 month old boy. I lived in Sydney, Australia. I love the outdoors and playing sports.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of the church! The teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ help me understand the purpose of life and give real meaning to the day-to-day activities I'm involved in. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called by God to restore all the teachings of Jesus Christ. I know that because I've read and prayed about the Book of Mormon. I know that we're led by a living prophet today.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I served a mission in Sydney, Australia. It was the most wonderful experience of my life! I grew to love the people of Australia and found many life-long friends there. We go on missions to share with everyone, our brothers and sisters in God's family, the teachings of Jesus Christ and His restored Gospel. We share the wonderful news that there are again prophets and apostles on the earth. We teach people the purpose of life and how God loves them and listens and answers prayers. I know the message that our missionaries share is true and it literally changes people's lives for the good, forever.

How I live my faith

I do all I can to serve in the church and to help those around me. I regularly visit friends and families to help lift and strengthen them. The most important way I try to live my faith is with my family. My wife and I just celebrated our second anniversary. She means everything to me and I want to be the best husband for her. I also want to be the best dad I can be for our son.

What do Mormons believe about family?

We believe that the family is the central unit of society. We also believe that marriage between a man and woman is ordained of God. Most importantly, we believe that our families can be together forever through Jesus Christ and the full gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the most wonderful and joyful teaching I know of! I know that through the gospel of Jesus Christ I can be with my wife and children and with our extended family forever. When my wife and I were married, we were sealed in the temple. What that means is that through the power of God, called the priesthood, we were married for all eternity. Even after this life, we will be together forever. I know that this is true because I have faith in Jesus Christ and I have felt the Holy Ghost testify to me that it's true. This belief gives meaning to everything I do. It helps me to understand that my family relationships will last forever and makes me a better husband and father.

The family is a key component to support us in God's plan for gaining immortality and eternal life. All of God's children (all the inhabitants that lived, are living, and will live on Earth) are inseperably connected to each other, both (physically) by our Earthly families and (spiritually) by our Heavenly Father.

Families help us to understand our divine heritage. In this, life takes on purpose and meaning. Our immortal spirits were created by our Heavenly Father before Earthly existance, and we are directly connected to Him in this way. As a spiritual family, our collective purpose on Earth is to follow the commandments of God that lead us to live in heaven with Him again.

Our spirits need to progress, learn, and grow. In order to achieve that, Earthly existance was created as our test. Our Heavenly Father knew that being exposed to opposing forces on Earth was the only way for us to gain knowledge and wisdom.

However, we will not always choose righteousness, and so our Savior, Jesus Christ, is that great mediator to pay the debt of our mistakes. He is the only way by which we can be saved from our sins and transgressions. He is the ultimate example by which direction we need to live our lives. With the support of our earthly kin, we can learn from each other, serve each other, and strengthen our mortal weaknesses by being disciples of Christ. Our families are a gift from God, and we can be together forever.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

There are no restrictions based on race or color for anybody who can join the church. If you have a desire to come unto Christ and be baptized with the proper authority, no matter who you are and your racial background, you will be able to.
