Chuck: chinese, asian, software engineer, taiwan, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Chuck

I'm a Chinese living in the U.S., I'm a software engineer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an ordinary person but was blessed to have been born in Taiwan in a loving family. I came to the U.S. to study in 1980 and received a M.S. degree in Computer Science. I now work as a QA engineer at FamilySearch. I enjoy going on vacations with my family, music, sports, photography, making friends, translation, and teaching Chinese.

My wife and I have been married since 1980 and we have four wonderful children. Two are married. All my children served an LDS mission. our youngest son is now serving a mission in Taiwan. My wife and I enjoy more time together and we miss our children only when we get bored!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the teachings of Jesus Christ found in this Church through scriptures and the words of our Church leaders. I know these teachings are true and, when followed, can help all who sincerely seek truths to know how they can be happy, not only in this life but in the life to come.

Simply put, joining the Mormon Church in 1976 was the turning point of my life and it has been the most significant and wonderful decision that I've ever made in my life!

Personal Stories

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

I know Joseph Smith was and is a true prophet of God. Through him, God has restored His gospel and the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. As young and uneducated as he was back in the 1830's, there's no way that he could have written the Book of Mormon, a companion to the Bible, nor could he have known how to organize a church that now has more than 14 million members worldwide and growing.

Although many people have made great efforts in trying to defame Joseph Smith and disagree with him, by the fruits of the Church, it's hard to argue the much good that he and this Church have done in this world.

I'm grateful to Joseph Smith, for his sincere desire to know the truth, for his special calling to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ, and for his courage and faithfulness to the end at his martyrdom in defending what he knew to be true!

How has attending Church services helped you?

I've always been active since I joined the Church in Taiwan in 1976. Attending Church and being with my fellow saints in worshipping God and in learning the gospel together has always been faith-promoting to me.

Attending Church has helped me realize how blessed we are as members of the Church. It has strengthened my testimony and has motivated me to become a better person each day and to be of a good influence in this world.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

When I was investigating the Church, I received a witness of the truthfulness of the restored gospel through the Holy Ghost in answer to my prayers. I've since tried to always have the righteous desires in my heart when I pray to Heavenly Father. I pray that my loved ones and I can receive His goodness and mercies everyday.

Prayer is definitely an action of faith. Many of my wishes have been granted. A few have not. But I know that I can and always will rely on prayers to express my deepest feelings with God, to feel His love for me, and to know what He would have me do.

How I live my faith

I try very hard to apply what I have been taught in the Church to be a real follower of Christ. I try to be a good father, husband, Church member, and most of all, a good person true to God and to myself. Living the gospel is never easy, but I have received many blessings as a result which has kept me going and I enjoy it very much.

I also help the Church spread the message of the gospel of love and happiness, through voluntary translation and interpretation.
