Hi, I'm Blake
I am from Blackfoot, Idaho. I love to play music, work on cars, and go longboarding. I have hemophilia, and I'm a Mormon
About Me
I am 20 years old. I am serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Minnesota Minneapolis Mission. I am a musician who plays the guitar, drums, piano, bass, and sings. I come from a loving family. I love to go longboarding. I like working on cars and hanging out with my friends and my family. I live with a bleeding disorder called "hemophilia".
Why I am a Mormon
I was raised into the church and was baptized when I was eight years old. I came to know that this church was the only true church on the face of the Earth after reading from The Book of Mormon and then asking God in sincere prayer if the book was true.
I practice this faith because of the answers that it brings me. Questions such as, "Who am I?" or "Why am I here, where am I going?" have all been answered.
I know that God has always called prophets. We read in the Bible that he always called people like Noah and Moses. If he is our loving Heavenly Father why would he stop? I know that there is a prophet here on Earth today and his name is Thomas S. Monson.
I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he saw Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. I believe that they told him that it was now the time to restore the same gospel of Jesus Christ, that Christ himself taught in his mortal ministry. (Ephesians 4:5)
Personal Stories
Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.
As I was growing up a had a lot of "heros" in my life. People like Batman or Superman. I loved these people because they were brave! They were strong! They were determined! They had a fixed mind and a determined resolution to do what was right even if no one else was going to do it.
All in all, these "Super Heros" had a lot of the traits of my all time favorite hero, Joseph Smith.
Joseph Smith was a young man of the age of 14 when he first started wondering what this life had for him. He had the questions a lot of us do. Why are we here? Where did we come from? Where are we going? What is the best way to get there?
One day as Joseph was reading in the Epistle of James, he came across a verse of scripture that in my opinion has had more impact on religious history than any other verse in all of holy scripture. "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given him." This verse impacted Joseph. It caused him to act. What happened next has changed the world and has changed my life. Joseph decided to pray in a grove of trees near his home. As he was on his knees in prayer to the Almighty, this is what he said occured. "I beheld a pillar of light exactly over my head above the brightness of the sun which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me I beheld two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all discription, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name, pointing to the other, saying, "Jospeh, this is my Beloved Son, hear him..."
The bold claim that this church makes and that I testify of is that Joseph Smith saw God and Christ and that they told him it was his calling to restore the same church the Christ had set up in his mortal reign and ministry. Joseph endured a lot for this claim. He suffered persecution for the rest of his life. Ultimately, he lost his life for this cause. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God...
How I live my faith
I live my faith currently by serving a mission for the church in Minnesota. I bike and teach the streets of Jesus Christ's love for all of us and how he wants us to return to live with him again.
