Hi, I'm Elizabeth.
My husband and I are Acitve Duty Air Force. I love to Rock Climb. Singing is my favorite pass time and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
Both my husband, and myself are Active Duty in the United States Air Force. I work Military Pay and my husband is a Metorologist for the Air Force. I was born into the church and my parents are First Generation, but my husband is a convert to the Gospel. We have certainly had our fair share of rough times, in being tried and tested. Our first year and a half of marriage we were stationed at different duty locations and so we didn't get to spend a lot of time together, we have worked very hard to keep our relationship strong and it has paid off. We are currently working toward going to the Temple to be sealed for time and all eternity, and we are very excited. Having the church in our lives as brought us closer together, we know that by growing closer to our Heavenly Father we grow closer to eachother.
Why I am a Mormon
Since I was a small child I was raised to love people. When I live the Gospel of Jesus Christ, loving people is easier. I know that when I am serving and loving those around me I am showing my love and service to my Heavenly Father. I have always wanted a family of my own and to know that through the ordinances of the Temple I can be with those I love forever, is very soothing. The only way that I know I can return to my Heavenly Father and being with my family forever is through the LDS faith, there is only one way through Jesus Christ.
Personal Stories
Can you think of a specific challenge in your family that Gospel Principles helped overcome?
When my husband and I were first dating he was not a member of the church, and I knew that if we wanted make this relationship last he was going to have to at least learn about the gospel. As our relationship became more serious I talked to him about learning about the Gospel and he was totally dissinterested. I loved him very much at that point in our relationship and I didn't want to have to choose between him and the church, but I understood I might have to. So I prayed a lot about how I could share the Gospel without seeming to preach. I had faith that when I talked to him about the church, the Holy Ghost would soften his heart and he would hear the message of joy, peace and happiness, which were things he was searching for. When he still didn't want to listen I had to take drastic measures, and again exercised great faith that he would not leave the relationship. I said to him, that he could either learn about about the Gospel or that we would have to break up. As much as it pained me to know that I was at that moment giving him a reason to leave I knew that we would have no future with out the Gospel and so when he said yes I knew our life could work. He started taking the Missionary Lessons and when the elders asked if he would be baptised he said yes and I knew it was because he felt the spirit, because I wasn't there when he took the lessons. By that point in our relationship I had sent to my first duty assignment and he was still in training. He started taking the lessons in July and my father was able to baptize him in September of 2008. In October of 2008, he was sent to his first duty assignment which was nearly 1000 miles from me. We decided to be married by my bishop in December of 2008 and in May of 2010 we were finally stationed at the same location. Throughout that year and a half we did a lot over the phone, good and bad. I was so happy to finally move and excited to meet a new ward family. My faith in the Lord only grew stronger because even though it didn't happen as quickly as I wanted it to, I was taken care and reunited with my husband. Heavenly Father knew that we needed to learn how to be apart, because not 3 months after I arrived in my new home my husband was deployed, and because of the experience we had previously endured I am enduring this one with much more peace of mind, then I would have if we had never been apart before. I thank my Heavenly Father for giving us challenges in our lives when we need them and although we may not understand it is for our good. When we rely on the Lord and exercise Faith we are blessed and always taken care of.
How I live my faith
I know that the Lord taught when we are in the service of our fellow men we are in the service of our God, and I know that through sharing my love and talents and time with others I am showing my God that I serve and love him. I am becoming involved with the local Special Olympics groups and it is so enjoyable and rewarding. I know that they are sweet and precious souls to our Heavenly Father. Being involved helps me stay busy and keeps me out of trouble when I know that the adversary would try to drag me down. When I am serving others the adversary has no power over me and when it comes to that I can use all the help I can get.
