I am a person from California, I love to ride cycles, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of six and was raised in good old San Diego. I am currently serving as a missionary in the beautiful state of Minnesota. I have been, and still am, heavily influenced by my parents and the amazing examples they are to me. I will love mountain biking and skiing till the day I die and I have been known to get my hands dirty with film and photography. Just living one day at a time.

Why I am a Mormon

I have seen the positive effects and benefits of being Mormon through my family and friends. it brings true success in life and gives a perfect foundation for family. I would be lost with out the support and joy the gospel offers me.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is simple, with exactness. So many people today can have misconceptions about the LDS faith. But when you began to dig and sort out the stereotypes, one will realize the beauty of the guidelines we have. Our faith requires works if blessings are expected. I try my hardest to follow the example of Christ and listening to the counsel of our prophet. When your faith and trust grows, naturally, living righteously will follow. I have seen this in my life and while I have been serving on my mission I have seen how serving others is key to pure religion. One of the greatest commandments is love one another. With that in mind, I try to live my faith by loving the people that surround us.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a very hard concept for 99% of the world to accept or even comprehend. It is a guide to keeping our bodies and minds healthy. It counsels us on what to take into our bodies and what not to take in. Some of the main substances God has not to allow into our bodies are alcohol, drugs, tea, coffee, and tobacco. This is because of the damage it causes to our bodies. When we are under the influence of these substances, we are not in control. This is one of the most helpful guides we have. It frees us from addiction and gives us more time to focus on the true joys of life. There are too many good times that are wasted having good times. What good times are you looking to have? Eternal or temporal?

The word of wisdom is the Lord's law of health. We abstain from drugs, tobacco, alcohol, coffee, and tea, and are encouraged to eat wholesome food and grains, and not eat excessive meat. I am asked all of the time by my fellow residents at the hospital why I don't drink coffee, and how I can stay awake all night on call without it. I don't consider it a sacrifice, though, and am as awake and perform as well as any. It is true that the body will be more healthy when following the word of wisdom, the but the main benefit is spiritual. The knowledge that you are in line with the the Lord's teaching is the most important thing.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

We certainly do not. As a Mormon I've constantly been taught about the importance of family and how to strengthen those bonds. My mother and father exemplify the ideal of loving parents and I am so grateful for that loving bond my 5 siblings and I share with our mom and dad. Our faith does not teach, condone, accept, or defend polygamy in any way.
