Chat With a Mormon Online
My name is Stephanie, I'm 21, and I am a recent college grad. I have a Bachelor's degree in Political Science with emphases in US Political Theory and US Constitutional Law. I am an independent political analyst, and political junkie extraordinaire. I'm a huge dork who believes in living life the best way I know how.
I can't point to one big, life altering thing that changed my life and made me want to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I can't even say that its the little things that have made it for me. It really is one all-encomassing thing: Love. I'm a Mormon because of the love I have felt from my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon because even when no one else is around, I'm never alone. I'm a Mormon because God is my Father and He loves me. I'm a Mormon because I know Jesus Christ atoned for my sins. He did it because He loves me. I'm a Mormon because even if it was just me who ever messed up, Christ still would have come for me.
I completed my undergrad at a school in Utah. I am not a Utah native, and, let me tell you, it is DEFINITELY a culture shock. One thing that really was frustrating for me was being single. There were girls ALL around me getting married, starting families and basically just moving on with their lives. I seemed to be stuck in the same spot, which was very frustrating for me. It was a really rough time in my life. I was angry with God for not being on my time table. I was ready to be married! I was ready to start a family! Yet, there I was, 20, about to graduate college, and single. I prayed all the time for a husband... Ya. That didn't work. As I continued to pray, God softened my heart and my prayers changed from "send me a husband" to "help me be okay with being single." Heavenly Father answered my prayers. I'm still single, and it still stings a little to watch girls who are younger than me get married before me, but I'm okay with it. God helped me be okay with and even start enjoying being single. I know this may seem trivial, but its really a testament to the fact that God answers prayers, no matter how many times you ask the same questions, you'll get the answer you need, not necessarily the answer you want.
I live my faith daily by being the best person I know how to be. I do my best to live by Jesus Christ's words by "loving one another" by showing charity and kindness to the people around me.
