The best portrait ever painted of our Heavenly Father is found in the Book of Moses. Enoch speaks with God, face to face, and is perplexed when he sees God weeping; he asks "How is it that thou canst weep, seeing thou art holy, and from all eternity to all eternity?" God answers: "Behold these thy brethren; they are the workmanship of mine own hands, and I gave unto them their knowledge, in the day I created them; and in the Garden of Eden, gave I unto man his agency; and unto thy brethren have I said, and also given commandment, that they should love one another, and that they should choose me, their Father; but behold, they are without affection, and they hate their own blood"(Moses 7:32-33). God is not a cosmic dictator; He is a loving Father. We have no reason to be afraid of Him but have every reason to love Him with all of our heart, because His own heart beats in sympathy with our own. He loves us and wants us to be like Him. Heavenly Father is glorified and exalted, the same as Jesus Christ. Both the Father and the Son have perfect and immortal bodies of flesh and bone. They have feelings and can relate to us the same way our earthly parents and siblings can. We are to God what a baby is to his earthly father, made in his image but infinitely less intelligent or powerful. Like a child away at school, our Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to come back home. He sent our Big Brother, Jesus Christ, to both prepare and show us the way home. Show more Show less

God is perfect, all wise, and all-powerful; the ruler of the universe. He is also merciful, kind, and just. He is our Father in Heaven. We are created in His image (Genesis 1:26,27). He has a body that looks like ours, but God’s body is immortal, perfected, and has a glory that words can’t describe. Because we are His children, He knows and loves each of us individually. He has a plan to help His children find joy in this life and return to live with Him when this life is over. 26 ¶And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
