About Me

I am a family man. My favorite place to be is home with my wife and children. I am also a technlogy enthusiast (nerd) that works for a multinational company in a research and development facility in the northwest. The northwest is a huge playground where my family and I can appreciate all of God's greatest creations.

Why I am a Mormon

In the crazy world we live in, people need stability, families need support. It is very clear to me that these can be found by living the teaching of Jesus Christ. As Mormons, we believe that we have modern-day prophets to guide us through these rough times. As my family seeks to follow the coucil given to us by our leaders, we find peace and great comfort.

How I live my faith

In our church we have no paid clergy. Many of us spend many hours each week teaching and serving each other. We do this because we love each other even as the Saviour taught us.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

We believe that baptism is essential for salvation. It is a covenant with God to obey his commandments. Christ taught that we all must be baptized. Some people die without being baptized or knowing about the Church of Jesus Christ. They must also have an opportunity for salvation. Those who have died are taught the gospel in the world of the spirits. But, baptism is an earthly ordinance. So we can perform that ordinance for them by being baptized for them, just as Christ died for us as a proxy for us, we can be baptized for others. This is authorized by Christ in his church to be performed in the temples. The person who died can either receive this gift or reject it. They still have their agency.

As a temple ordinance worker for the Mesa Temple for the past 5 years, I have grown in appreciation for the temple and the ordinances that are preformed. I believe that those who have passed-on are given the opportunity to accept the work that is performed in their behalf as if they were here - physically. The initial ordinance of accepting Jesus Christ is baptism. The ordinance of baptism is performed as it was originally by John the Baptist for Jesus in the temple by emersion. The temple gives those that have passed-on the opportunity to accept the mission of Jesus Christ and all the ordinances that he performed.

What is a ward/stake/branch?

For purposes of organization, a Ward or Branch is the group you meet with for church, based on where you live. They vary in size, branches are slightly smaller than wards, and wards vary in the various 100's of members. Wards and branches are then organized into stakes, containing several wards/branches.
