Hi, I'm Andrew
I'm a sports enthusiast. I'm striving to be a lifelong learner. I'm a husband. I'm a father. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm the oldest of four children, having grown up most of my life in Minnesota. I earned my undergraduate degree out West. I spent a couple of wonderful years in Chile on a mission. After returning back to Minnesota, I married a wonderful gal. I'm a father to an incredible little girl. I love spending time with my family. I earned a masters degree while working full-time. I work in accounting and human resources for a small company. When there is free time, I enjoy playing sports (basketball, volleyball, tennis, biking, running, or whatever else), reading, being outdoors, traveling, singing, and trying to discover any piano playing skills I had in my younger years. I'm an aspiring watercolor painter, though so far, I've only painted pictures with my daughter.
Why I am a Mormon
I know God is our Heavenly Father. He knows and loves each one of us on a personal level, so much so that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth. Jesus loves us so much that He took upon Himself all of our sins, pains, and sufferings, He died, and He lives again. He is the Prince of Peace, the Great Comforter. I'm grateful that prophets and apostles are called today like they were in ancient days, to teach about Christ. I have come to know these things for myself through study and prayer. I'm grateful for the other Comforter as well, the Holy Ghost, which testifies of truth.
Personal Stories
What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?
We try to have some family time set aside each week, which is called Family Home Evening. We have a short gospel lesson our daughter can digest, a game or activity (favorite games include Uno and Trouble), and sometimes finish with a treat.
I also try to have a father-daughter interview once a month, where we catch up on how things are going. We try to come away with a goal to work on in the next month.
As parents, we're going to start to meet once a week to specifically talk about how things are going, to calendar and plan, and talk about ways we can improve as spouses and parents.
How I live my faith
I enjoy most often the times when I am able to help others, whether it is helping someone clean up their home or shovel their snow. I love helping out at my daughter's school. I serve currently as the First Counselor to our Bishop (similar to a Pastor) in our congregation, where I focus on helping out wherever I can with the young men's, young women's, and women's organizations.
