I live in Georgia. I work with the scouts and love my family, hard rock and heavy metal music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Bradley and I have a great family of 2 girls and 2 boys. I am married to my best friend who I met on my mission for the church. We are very active in church and community activities. I especially enjoy working with the Boy Scouts of America as a scoutmaster and anything else they ask me to do. I also enjoy going on trips with my family and attending concerts whenever possible. We also enjoy camping and going to watch sports as a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born as a 5th generation southern Mormon. I say that because it's rare that my family has been members of the church in the south for that long. Even though we have a long line of membership i still had to find out for myself if this was the faith that i wanted to follow. I attended other churches with friends and studied other religions and always felt that the teachings in the Mormon church were true and the most correct of any. I chose to serve a mission for the church and loved the two years of serving others and not thinking of myself. My mission changed my life in so many ways. I know the teaching of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be true. I am grateful for the things that we believe and hope that others will want to learn more. I continue to study other belief systems and continue to return to my beliefs because of the truth within them.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I can't speak for others but for me I went because once I knew it was true I felt an obligation to show God I was going to not just pay lip service about my beliefs. I also looked around and knew that at that most pivotal time of 19 that I needed direction and purpose to stay close to God and what better way than to serve others.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. I found this out for myself through prayer and lots of thought. One of the key things for me was to realize that if there have been prophets at other key moments in earth's history then of course there would be one now in the end of days. I believe Joseph Smith to be the first of those prophets because of the things he taught and revealed.

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

I went on a mission to San Diego California. I loved serving my mission. I meant great people and was able to see such changes made in others lives. I met my future wife and her family while on my mission. While I had no idea she was going to be my wife and had no contact with her afterward the Lord works through others and a friend of hers told me to contact her. I did and it changed my life we now have a great family and share a very happy life together. I think for a 19 year old boy to go on a mission can be a sure way to give him direction and purpose at a turning point in life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by working hard to be the best husband and father that i can be. I also work a lot with the scouting program. I know that it's an organization that teaches, just as the church does, love of God and country. I volunteer as much as possible with my children's school. I also do all that i can to be a good friend and family member.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

My wife is a Mormon, and I love her with all of my heart. She is devoted to serving God, and raising a righteous family. We are equal partners in God's eyes, and her happiness is my enduring goal in life.

Mormon women are strong. Mormon women are sure. We are taught from the time that we are tiny that we are daughters of God. Many people question equality between Mormon men and women because we believe in the traditional roles of the family, the classic stay-at-home mom and the working father. It makes me sad that society has degraded the role of a mother and made it seem undesirable and less than an occupation outside the home.

We believe in eternal families. We believe that this life is the one time in all eternity that we are sent to be tried and tested. If those beliefs be true than there is nothing more noble and exciting than being a mother. To be chosen to bring life into the world and to steer that life to goodness and love is one of the greatest and most impressive things that can be done.

I am proud to be a woman. I am excited to be a mother one day. I am an advocate for education and self-betterment for all. I value the differences of women from men. All of these things I learned to do from my religion. If that's not feminism I don't know what is.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

I served a mission in South Korea for two years, so I can tell you. :) The missionaries will probably be as nervous as you are as they arrive at your home. The nervousness does not come from timidity or a lack of belief in the message they bring, but because they want so much to express their testimonies and the Spirit they feel to you.

The missionaries will likely introduce themselves and get to know you and your family. Though missionaries are called by God to preach His word, they come from largely every-day backgrounds and have lives likely much like yours.

After getting to know your family, they will likely ask what questions you may have about life or the Mormon church. Using the scriptures and their own personal experiences, they will seek to help you find answers. Don't be afraid of asking any question or thinking you may offend or sound silly to the missionaries. They are called to help and serve and are very understanding.

After answering your questions and sharing a spiritual message, the missionaries will ask you to act on the message. A soccer player does not listen to his coach during practice only to go home without kicking a ball, right? In the same way, the missionaries will invite you to read a chapter of scripture or seek for yourself that what they are saying is true. You don't have to just take the missionaries' word in what they say--a loving God is happy to answer thoughtful, earnest prayers seeking for the truth.
