I'm a student, a triathlon athlete, and a Mormon, and I love every minute of it!

About Me

I am going to school in Provo, studying to be an engineer. I love math and sciences, but I do more than school. I ride road bicycles, and Love to go fast. Exercise is perhaps my biggest hobby; I go to the gym and lift, I bike, I run, swim, ... I've raced in one sprint triathlon and plan on doing more in the future. Also, I love to learn and read. Anything I don't understand, I ask questions and try to figure it out. I am very curious.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by a mother and father who had already joined The Church of Jesus Christ, so when I turned eight, it seemed natural that I do as they expected and follow the example of my older siblings. However, as I got older and my friends started doing things I knew I shouldn't, I had to make a choice. So, the real question for me is, why am I still a Mormon.

This church provides a great support, and I have grown close to my Savior through it, but the ultimate reason is that I have learned that what they teach in The Church of Jesus Christ is true. I have felt the burning in my bones Jeremiah spoke of, and I cannot deny it. I have felt the words of God in my soul, teaching me, and testifying to me of the divinity of this church, and I do as He directs.

How I live my faith

I have been asked to teach Sunday School to the 15, 16, and 17 year-olds. Each week, another Brother and I take turns teaching the lessons from the Old Testament and sharing the word with the youths. This has been a wonderful experience to teach from scripture and have learned a great deal myself. I appreciate the opportunities I have to serve in the church.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

There are a few reasons missionaries proselyte. One reason is that the Lord said to Joseph Smith in 1832 that ‘it becometh every man that hath been warned to warn his neighbor.’ Missionaries have all been taught the gospel of Jesus Christ and have learned the commandments of God, and each of these commandments is a warning that certain things will have adverse effects on us. So, missionaries are simply trying to be obedient to the word of the Lord by teaching the commandments of God.
Another reason, and perhaps the best reason, is the missionary has truly learned the nature of God’s commandments as warnings. They know that disobedience to these commandments bring sorrow, and they know how to be happy. A missionary will proselyte to people, and teach people these commandments because he loves them and genuinely cares for their happiness and knows His message is the way to get it. They share because they care.

Our decision to serve missions is motivated by our belief in the Gospel and our desire to fulfill the Savior's command to "preach the gospel to every creature" Mark 16:15. The Gospel teaches us that we are all sons and daughters of God, and so we feel a kinship with all of God's children and a desire to help them enjoy the peace in this life that the Gospel provides.Our missionaries are not salesman and won't take much of your time, but I know that your decision to invite them into your home will change your life for good!

What is faith?

Faith is taking action because of a hope in something. Often the Savior asks of us to do certain things or live in certain ways. When we see a stranger in distress, we stop and help them as Jesus commanded us to in the Good Samaritan Luke 10:25. The act of helping is the evidence of our Faith in Christ. We are asked to tithe. Tithing is evidence of our faith. We tithe in hopes of the promises in Malachi 3:10 that the floodgates of Heaven are open to us.
Faith is when we put our beliefs and hope into action.
