I am a college student reading and singing her way through life. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a sophomore attending a U.S university, still trying to figure out in what direction my life is going. I love to sing, and am in the Women's Chorus at my university. I love spending time with my friends and love my family more than anything else.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family and baptized at age 8 by my dad. While some may say that I haven't really chosen to be LDS because I just follow what my parents have done before me, I can guarantee that my participation in the LDS church has been my choice. I have developed a testimony for myself, and while I do respect my parents and want to follow their examples, I believe that it is my own testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ that has led me to continue my participation in the LDS church. I love the peace the gospel brings into my life and the comfort the Atonement of Jesus Christ brings to my life.

How I live my faith

I attend my student ward every Sunday. I participate in learning about the teachings of Jesus Christ present in both the Bible and Book of Mormon and how I can develop my personal relationship with my Heavenly Father. I have the opportunity to accompany our ward choir, which is so much fun. I love having the chance to gather together with all my friends and share our talents in praising God. It's an experience I look forward to every Sunday.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are used to perform sacred ordinances for both living members and people who have already passed away. I haven't received my endowments yet, so I only participate in baptisms for the dead, but I know it is an important part of God's plan for His children.

Temples are used to perform sacred ordinances necessary for salvation. One of these is a temple marriage--making it possible to be together as a family for eternity. Since these ordinances are sacred, only members who are striving to live the gospel may enter. All members are strongly encouraged to become and/or stay worthy to enter the temple. Members also go to the temple to seek guidance, comfort, and personal revelation from God.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

This question is my all time favorite "tough topic" to discuss. I want to start off right off the bat by saying that no matter what you've been told, or who has told you it, Mormons DO NOT "hate" gays and lesbians. Or ANYONE for any reason. Ever. As witnesses of Christ, we do our best to emulate Him and live as He would have us live. That's not to say that we're perfect, because we're not... but I do know that Christ never hated anyone.

Mormons believe in the sanctity of marriage. We believe that God has ordained marriage, and the sacred powers of procreation, to be between a man and a woman. Sexual relations are a sacred thing. We believe that they are to be reserved for marriage. This law, the law of chastity, applies to every spirit son and daughter of God. It doesn't matter if you are attracted to the opposite gender or your same gender, you are commanded to live a chaste and virtuous life. The neat thing about God is that He's "no respecter of persons". This means that God requires the same things of all of us. We are to remain chaste until marriage, and within marriage chastity means that you only have those sacred relations with your spouse.

As a church, we welcome all who want to draw near to Christ. We love everyone, regardless of circumstance, as Christ loves them. We maintain that every single man, woman, and child on this earth is a son or daughter of God, and we treat them accordingly.
