About Me

I am a lucky mom of 4 children. I have been married for 20 years (has it really been 20?). I love a good book, fun times with my family, any kind of sweet (yes, I am a sweetaholic), watching thunderstorms, as well as a favorite - sharing gospel truths with my children.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because everything about my faith just feels right in my heart.

I love the scriptures! I love reading the Old Testament, the New Testament and the Book of Mormon. There words guide my life daily. They lift me up, give me strength for my stuggles and teach me to be a better person.

I believe there are prophets in our day. God loves us just as He loves those in the Bible. The prophets like Moses, Peter, Isaiah are wonderful to read about and the words they shared in their day were life saving to those who listened. I learn so much from their example. It just feels right that God would give us a prophet today to lead us in the same way.

I believe Christ. I believe He came to save me, to lead me back to Heaven. That through His suffering, I can be healed. I believe in the plan Heavenly Father gave to us - if I do all I can, live the best I can, and repent of the rest, then through Jesus Christ, I can live with Him again in Heaven. That is a plan I can follow. That is the goal of my life. Words cannot express my love for them.

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

A few Saturdays ago, my family and I were out playing frisbee together. The feeling was lighthearted, teasing and laughing going on. I paused for second and took in the moment. These are the most important people in my life. My husband, my sons, my daughter - all of us together. The thought came to me, "This is what counts. These are the ones I will be with forever." I love knowing we can be together as a family after we die.

Spending time together laughing and having fun creates harmony in our home.

I will give my time, talents, and everything God has blessed me with to uplift, enlighten and encourage any and all God places in my path.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

I would think if you have a mormon living next to you, their lives would appear typical.
For my family, a week would include school for the kids, work for my husband and part time work for me, church service on Sunday, Wednesday night church activities, watching movies together, weekly service to someone, and the regular dailies that keep us all busy.

The deciding clue might be our dedication to the gospel principles we know to be true. Our lifestyle is one that we give our all to. We are dedicated to bringing up a righteous people and that begins in our homes with our families. Family time is layered in events such as family prayer, family scripture study, family home evening and of course Sunday church services.

A great importance is placed on making each day count. For each day is another day to show our Heavenly Father that we want to live with him again. Our actions will prove our desires to be true. We are not a perfect people by far, we need repentance as much as anyone. But hopefully there is a light in our eyes for we seek to shine the light of Christ.

Family is everything to us. Our family spends lots of our free time together because we like each other. Life gets crazy with teenagers, dance practice, after school academic decathlon, usually with a toddler in tow, but no matter what, every Monday night is Family Night.

The kids know that every Monday we spend time together and nothing gets in the way of it. It's our commitment to each other. We bake cookies, have lessons about the Savior, work on personal goals, go to the park, go geocaching, play board games or just go out for ice cream.

We do lots of things together. The point is that at least once a week we spend an hour or two together, just for the sake of being together, just because we love being together as a family. It's not as perfect as it may sound, with all the poking and "she's in my spot," and all the other crazy things family members do to each other when scrambling for a spot in the living room, but we try real hard. It takes effort to make sure we don't miss, but it's worth it.

I'm not sure the kids will remember all the games we played, the places we went or what we did, but I hope they always remember that we loved each other enough to dedicate one night a week to be with each other. And that we spent every Monday night together for as many Mondays as they can remember because family is everything to us, and every member of our family is important.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

I personally enjoy The Bible as one of my favorite books. I know it is the word of The Lord. As I read the bible, I also tried to study where it came from. Before joining the church, I did believe that the bible was the word of God. But why? I believed in it before reading it... Well, the reason why I know, is because I ask God and He answered me. There is no other way. I wasn't there when it was translated, so how can I know? Some people just believe that it is true because everybody else says so. Heavenly Father can answer our prayers, why don't we ask Him?
