I'm a Canadian, most of my friends are not Mormon but I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Canada and I am in my early 30's. I love to read, especially books of History and Theology. I also enjoy Role-playing games, video games, and spending time with my friends. I have attended University but never graduated and I am a returned missionary. I served my mission in the Cambodia Phnom Penh mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents were converts to the Church before they met and married; I was born into the Church. In my early teen years I began wondering about my faith and began praying and reading the Book of Mormon. I received very powerful answers and I have continued to confirm them to this day.

Personal Stories

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that he truly did see God the Father and the Only Begotten Son. Through Joseph Smith Christ has restored the fullness of the gospel and His true Church. Joseph taught that his purpose was to bring people closer to Christ. Examine his teachings, the revelations and scriptures he brought to us and see if applying them does not bring you closer to Christ. Through Joseph Smith's teachings God and the universe are more majestic and wondrous than I could ever have imagined. Because of his teachings I know that God is truly worthy of all the worship and devotion I could give to Him.

How I live my faith

I believe that to live your faith you have to understand it so I study the scriptures daily and any other sources I can get my hands on. I am currently a teacher in my ward and teach the adult men and I enjoy discussing the gospels with others to learn and to instruct.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Marriage is a wonderful thing, two people doing their best to grow together in Love and Companionship coming closer together and they work through Life's challenges. I recently attended the Non-Mormon wedding of some dear friends of mine. Their vows were beautiful and I would personally vote them as most likely to make it through life together in a successful marriage. The pastor kept saying over and over again though that this companionship was for life only and I wondered would a Loving God truly tell us that this wonderful loving companionship is over never to be renewed or continued? For some of us a few days or weeks away from our spouses is maddening how could we be happy in an eternal condition without them?

God fully intended that the relationship we build with our spouse can continue after this life, we need not lose each other or other members of our families merely because someone has died. Heaven would not be heaven if I could not live with my spouse and family.

This is more than just instinct. We are indeed eternal beings whose origin is before the creation of the earth. And one of the things we come to earth to do is to find a companion, not only for this mortal existence, but for eternity as well. God has provided the place, the Temple of the Lord, and the authority, the power to seal things on earth and in heaven. So that eternal relationships can be established here and enjoyed after this life is done. Do I believe it? I feel certain that these principles are true. The Holy Ghost confirms that to my spirit.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Serving a mission is a priesthood responsibility, and young men are asked to sacrifice two years in order to serve others, gain experience as followers of Christ, and grow in their faith. However, that is a choice each individual has to make on their own and deciding not to go does not affect a person's standing in the Church. But those who do go, men and women alike, usually find that two years is not enough time and wish they could stay longer. Service creates bonds of love for the people you serve. I was unable to go in my young adult years, but I still yearn for the opportunity and look forward to a time when I can serve as a missionary.
