June: Mormon.

Hi, I'm June

I'm a Mormon. I have lived all my life in Utah. I have grown up in the Mormon church. I love it.

About Me

I am a mother of eight children and a grandmother of 22. My husband and I are widowers that married 9 years ago so we have a blended family. All our children are married. My husband is an account manager for Discover Financial. I work teaching school but am planning on retiring at the end of the school year. I have my Master Degree in Instructional Design. My husband has an MBA. We both value education.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family but there came a time when I was in college that I had to find out on my own if the church was true. After reading the Book of Mormon again and praying about it the spirit witnessed to me that it was true. I have had many incidences since then that confirm that God lives and is concerned about me and is pleased with my decision to belong to his church.

Personal Stories

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

When I was about 44 my first husband died of Cancer. I was left alone with six children to raise. But because of the plan of happiness or the Plan of Salvation I knew that my husband was not gone forever and that he continues to help us as he can. My children went through the stages of grieving but I believe that because they understood the Plan of Salvation which includes the idea that there is life after death they had an easier time accepting his death and moving on in their life. It also gave us a reason to continue living the Gospel. Because we did not think of death as a curse but a natural part of life we had a desire to live the Gospel so that we could be with our Father and Husband again some day.

How I live my faith

I help others to do Family History work in my ward. My husband and I just completed a part time mission helping others to overcome addictions with the Church Addiction Recovery Program. I read my scritpures, which includes not only the Bible but the Book of Mormon, Daily and participate in Daily prayer both individually and as a couple. We attend our Ward meetings on Sunday and try to participate in learning new things each week for the Sunday School lessons. I try to talk about what I am doing with my friends so they can see how important living the gospel is to me.
