Andrew: Steinicke, Basketball, Mission, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Andrew

I love basketball and soccer. Plus, I've recently become interested in disc golf. I'm a brother. I'm a son. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Utah. I love playing sports. Basketball, football, soccer, and running are some of my favorites. Music is also a big part of my life. I play the piano and a bit of guitar, not much though. I'm not sure where I am going to go to college yet, but hopefully I'll figure that out soon enough. Oh, and I'm serving a mission right now in Montana!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon, prayed, and found out for myself that this is the true church.

Personal Stories

Could you talk about your baptism?

I don't remember a whole lot about my baptism. I remember going over to the church where it was going to take place a few days before, or a week before, to make sure we had white clothes for me to wear. I was only eight years old so please bear with me. The day of my baptism I remember sitting next to my dad in the chapel. I felt good. I recall my dad baptizing me, making sure I was fully immersed in the water. After, when we were changing back into dry clothes we were talking, and I just felt good inside. I knew I had made a right choice.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

The prophet Joseph Smith is one of my heroes. He and his family endured many trials and hardships. I am thankful for his efforts and his example. He truly was doing the Lord's work. He brought about the Book of Mormon through the power of God. I know this book is true. I can testify that I have read it, many times, and I have felt of its truth. I have learned so much from its pages. The Prophet Joseph sacrificed a great deal for us to be able to read it. By studying and praying about the Book of Mormon I have come to know for myself of its truthfulness and that Joseph was called as a prophet of God to restore His church.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I can think of a few really good reasons why Mormons go on missions. Reason number one, we believe that God has commanded that every worthy young man, who is a member of the church, should serve a full-time mission. Reason number two, we as missionaries receive blessings that only come through full time service to God. Along with the blessings we receive our families are blessed as well. Reason number three, we want to share the joy we feel. The gospel has brought me so much happiness in my life and I want others to have the opportunity to feel that same peace and happiness. Christ has said, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." As missionaries we are just out trying to help people in any way we can and helping others come closer to Christ is the best way that we can do that.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the scriptures and praying every day. I try to be like my Savior Jesus Christ. I serve in the church whenever I can. That is why I have decided to leave my family and friends for two years to preach the gospel to those who have not yet heard it.
