Laura: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Laura

I am proud to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

I am a wife and a mother of two little children with a third on the way. I graduated from college, but now I get to stay at home full time with the little ones. My husband does a great job of suppporting our family while he goes to school.

Why I am a Mormon

Through study, prayer, and living the gospel I know for myself that Jesus Christ has called prophets in our day and the He leads His church. This is Christ's church, and there is not a doubt in my mind. Because of His restored gospel, I know who I am and what I need to do here on earth. I find great strenght, comfort, direction, and hope in knowing God's plan for me and my family. I have been a member my whole life, and as I live the teachings of the gospel, I have seen how my life has been blessed and how I continue to be happier and have more peace. I feel prepared as a mother, wife, and as an individual living in these crazy times because I know that Heavenly Father has given me the tools to succeed. Things aren't always easy or happen how I would like them to, but I can always go back to the sure knowledge I have that I am a daughter of God and that there is a plan for my happiness.

Personal Stories

How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

The Book of Mormon is so clear about what we need to do to be happy and have peace in this life and how we can be happy eternally. When I have had questions about my purpose in life or how to overcome specific challenges, I have searched in the Book of Mormon and found answers that helped me to recognize the big picture of what life is about and what God expects of me.

How has attending Church services helped you?

Some weeks are harder than others, but I always look forward to going to church on Sunday to reset and recommit myself for the following week. When I take the sacrament, I remember the love that Jesus has for me even when I've made mistakes. I remember Jesus Christ's promise to help me when I always remember him and keep the commandments.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

One time when I was young I was having a really hard time and I had an experience where I felt that Heavenly Father really did love me and cared about me and wanted me to be happy. I wanted to go on a mission so that I could help other people experience that love.

How I live my faith

Until recently, I was involved in teaching the children ages 3-11 at church. That responsibility, along with Children are always watching and listening! The principles of my faith are really the core of how I raise my children. I want them to know who they are and how to follow Jesus Christ, so I am always thinking about what they will learn from my husband's and my example, the music they hear, the shows that they watch. They are little, but I am trying to teach them to pray, to love others, and how to be happy. My responsability to teach and prepare my children has helped me commit myself to being a good example of a follower of Jesus Christ.
