About Me

I'm a full time college student preparing to a serve a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love music, playing many musical instruments, singing, and I've developed quite the reputation for my whistling.
I love family, friendship, and the wonderful children of God on this Earth.

Why I am a Mormon

Nothing in this world has felt more right than the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I've found no greater joy than when living the teachings of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and striving to live as he did. Through prayer and reading the Book of Mormon, another Testament of Jesus Christ to stand beside the accounts in the Bible, I've come to personally know of the truths therein, and the truthfulness of Joseph Smith as the prophet chosen to restore Christ's church on the Earth, lead by a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, even now.

I can only marvel at the knowledge that I have that I can live with my family forever and that all people on this Earth, who I have come to love so much, literally are my brothers and sisters in a family lead by our loving Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I try my best to develop relationships of trust and respect with those around me. People bring such joy into my life. I try to live a life exemplary of the teachings of Christ and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the resulting fulfillment and purpose in life I feel. Following God's commandments and revelation from modern-day Prophets brings so many blessings of joy and safety to my life, giving me true freedom to enjoy the life I've been given and choose to live.

I'm grateful for my church leaders and the guidance they give. I know that when lost, I can turn to them for aid in finding the answers I seek from my Father in Heaven.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Tithing can go towards many things including the construction of temples and church meeting houses, church efforts to provide for people around the world things such as disaster relief; food, clothing, and shelter for those in need; aiding in the church missionary effort; and the church's policy of perpetual education.

The money received from members in the form of tithing goes directly to the headquarters of the church where a council decides what will be done with the money. Here are some ways in which the tithing funds are used:
1. Build, maintain, and operate temples, meetinghouses, and other buildings.
2. Provide operating funds for stakes, wards, and other units of the Church. (These units use the funds to carry out the ecclesiastical programs of the Church, which include teaching the gospel and conducting social activities.)
3. Help the missionary program.
4. Educate young people in Church schools, seminaries, and institutes.
5. Print and distribute lesson materials.
6. Help in family history and temple work.

*It is important to note that tithing funds are not used to pay leaders of the church. All leaders of the church are volunteers and receive no form of pay.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

This is one of the hardest subjects because in today's world the only accepted dialog is love or hate. We firmly decree that homosexual behavior is sinful. This does not speak to the individual, who they are or the feelings they have. Each of us face feelings and desires, some of which are contrary to the will of the Lord. This is one of them.

Our Heavenly Father does not judge us on these feelings, but how we act on them. If feelings are converted to behavior, then sin has been committed.

We believe that marriage is a sacred institution, one that God has intended to be shared between man and woman. We do not believe it is for us to redefine it, and as such would not support a change that would legitimize behavior believed to be sinful.

We love all of God's children. I have several friends who identify themselves as homosexuals. I consider them friends even though my beliefs hurt and frustrate them. I try to help them understand that I can love them and care about them while maintaining these beliefs. Likewise, I would always defend them against discrimination and bullying.
