About Me

I am the middle child of three children. I was born and raised in Utah- but left there 4 years ago for the desert known as Arizona and love living in the heat. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have three children of our own. We love attending sporting events as a family and have a great time with eachother

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ gives my life meaning purpose and direction. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all my life, but have found deeper conversion to its principles as I have become a mother and started down the path of raising my own children. Being a Mormon brings me peace in a world full of unknowns.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Church is not just a casual choice for me. I live my faith every minute of every hour of every day. I find great power in living and strengthening my faith as I make the journey through life. My commitment to my faith has grown immensley in the last year as I have been given the opportunity to serve in a leadership position working with the women of our church. I love to help women draw closer to Christ and enjoy serving in this position.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

We believe that the family is ordained of God and that families can be together forever.

Because family is so important to God. Why do you think God intoduces Christ as His "only begotten SON in whom I am well pleased" and not something more formal like my servant, the Christ? Why in the scriptures is God referred to as "The Father" more than any other title? why is it that naturally we come into this life into a family, whether functional or not? Families are ordained of God. Agency and human nature is what may cause us to believe other wise.
Family ought to be our foundation of education in this life. I've moved around a lot. I've attended many different schools and one thing I've learned is that it is hard to focus on my goals if I don't have a social network providing acceptance and unity. A support group I can lean on and be there to be leaned on at school. It's a miracle that God has provided that support group for the important lessons in life.
If our families aren't what they could be, we can choose individually to be an example and a friend to them as far as possible. practice the principles of repentence and forgiveness. Understanding that our families are meant to be eternal helps us to not allow the small things to obstruct our relationships.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

At many times in the Bible prophets were commanded to practice polygamy. Some of these prophets were Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, and Solomon.

We know that plural marriage is a sin unless God commands us to practice it. In the Book of Mormon the prophet Jacob tells the Lords will on the subject, “for there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife: and concubines he shall have none... for if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things” (Jacob 2:27-30).

So only as the Lord commands His people is it acceptable. While they early saints accepted this it was not an easy commandment to keep. They had many struggles with it and only under the direction of the Lord was it carried out. The Church leaders closely supervised the practice and only those who had been authorized by the Lord were to practice. In addition to that all of the marriages had to be performed by the sealing power of the priesthood which had been restored. It was not a temporary thing when it was practiced.

In 1890, President Woodruff received revelation that plural marriage was no longer acceptable to the Lord. So the practice was stopped instantly. Anyone who practices polygamy now is NOT a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
