Barr Hill: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Barr Hill

I'm a husband and a father. I grew up in Utah, lived in Connecticut, Indiana, Ohio, and now California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married and have 5 kids. My wife is wonderful. I married above myself. I've been working in the field of HR for the past 12 years and really enjoying what I do. For hobbies I enjoy being physically active. A friend got me into triathlons a few years ago and I've found it can be addictive in a good way.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members of the church so I participated in the church throughout my childhood and teen years. I came to know the blessings of membership in the church for myself after leaving home and needing to decide for myself what I believed to be true. During my first semester of college I read the Book of Mormon for the first time from cover to cover because I wanted to know for myself if it was true, not because my family was or because of a lesson or class. I read the book, pondered it, and asked God if it was true and if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I got an answer that it was true and I've been actively involved in the church ever since that time. I can honestly say that everything that is good in my life can be tied back to my relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. I love being a Mormon.

Personal Stories

How has attending Church services helped you?

When I attend church on Sunday I feel strengthened for the coming week. I feel the Spirit of Christ more deeply in my life - especially as I prepare myself to take the sacrament. We have lessons, taught by people that have become my friends, that help me to learn more about the scriptures and about our Savior Jesus Christ. I also feel a sense of fellowship with other members. It feels great to be surrounded by other people that are not perfect, but who are striving to live their faith and to be good people.

How I live my faith

I read the scriptures every day individually and with my family. I pray every day myself and with my family. I strive to keep the commitments I made with my Savior, Jesus Christ, when I was baptized and when I received sacred ordinances in the temple, including when I was married to my sweet wife in the temple.

I've had many opportunities to serve in the church in different ways. Currently I'm teaching early morning seminary to freshman aged young men and women in my stake.
