Hi, I'm Heather
I'm a teacher, tutor, editor, auntie, and an avid democrat, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm a young single adult that recently graduated college in English Education. Due to the economic down turn I work a lot of different jobs as a substitute teacher, a tutor, and occasionally an editor, but one day I will have my own class.
I love to read, write short stories, crochet, sew, and all sorts of crafts.
I enjoy learning about politics and I get involved in my community. I will admit we Mormon Democrats are few, but we are here.
Why I am a Mormon
I'm a Mormon mainly because I believe it's true.
I believe in evolution, but to a point I realize that there is no way evolution could occur without divine help. It's too perfect.
I was raised to believe that God is my Heavenly Father, and I embrace it wholeheartedly. It explains so much that happens in this world: I am not a mother, but I do know that parents will let life happen to their children so that they can learn and become better people, but I also know a good parent will jump in and help if they know their child needs it.
Another thing I love about this church is that we believe in both justice and mercy. Just because we love and accept God doesn't mean we are saved and free to do as we please. We have to try our best and do all that is just and good. If we make mistakes we have to repent of them and make amends, but God knows we aren't perfect, so Christ's sacrifice makes up where we lack.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by constantly striving to become a better person. This involves being nicer to others, serving wherever possible, trying to become more educated, and live a healthy lifestyle.
In Luke 2:52 it reads "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man."
It is a common goal to become more Christlike, therefore, as Jesus increased in wisdom, we too must gain knowledge; as He increased in stature, we need to work on being more healthy; as He increased in favor with God, we too need to work on our spiritual well being; and as Christ grew in favor with man, we need to be kind and friendly to those around us.
I try to make a goals every year with these 4 parts being the base. I believe this is slowly helping me to be a better person and live my faith.
