Heather.: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Heather.

I grew up in awesome places. I have an awesome family. I'm a Mormon. And that is awesome.

About Me

My life is pretty simple. And that is the way I like it! I am a wife to an amazing husband. A mother to 3 sweet, silly, and spunky boys. I hope to have more kids in my future...at least 2 more...and it would be cool if at least 1 was a girl.

I love photography and am a professional photographer. I love my family, friends, milk, eating good food, flip flops, Tim Burton movies, rain, reading, the color pink, blogs, and throwing parties!

If I could be anything in the world, it would be a toss up between: the elephant rider in the circus or a professional ballerina. Ooooooh, or the lady who sings in Cirque Du Soleil! And of course, I would still have my awesome family...they would be in the circus too maybe!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in an LDS family. I have been LDS my whole entire life. Once I moved out of my parent's house after highschool, I started to think about my testimony. What did I really believe? Did I want to continue to be LDS? Could I feel the same things in another religion? I searched, and I found my answers. I did try other religions, and though there are good things being taught, and great people of other faiths, it just didn't feel right for me. The LDS church is right for me. I love the way I feel when I attend my church meetings. I love that I get to spend eternity with my husband and kids. I love the way I feel when I see my kids learning the gospel. I love the knowledge that I have of eternal families, and temple work. I love that there is a living prophet who can help us along our path.

I am Mormon because I choose to be every single day. I am Mormon because it makes my life fufilled and complete. I am Mormon because I want to be.

Personal Stories

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

Prayer is a funny thing sometimes. What I mean is...sometimes we pray and pray and pray for a specific thing. My husband lost his job 2 years ago, and I have been praying that he would find a new one. Well, he hasn't yet. But I have also been praying that our family would be all right, that we would have the things we need. And that we would be safe and happy. And we have been. This whole entire time. My photography business has really grown, and I have been able to provide for our family while my sweet husband continues to search for a job.

So, I think sometimes we overlook the simple prayers that have been answered, and only look for the big ones! In that way, maybe people feel that Heavenly Father isn't listening to them. But when we take a step back and really look at our lives, of course there are going to be difficult times, but our simple prayers are being answered. Every day. We are together as a family. We have food on the table every day. We are happy. And those are daily answers to daily prayers. And sometimes the "big" prayers take time, and don't always turn out the way we had hoped. But we just keep on praying and doing the things we are supposed to do, and even though there will be bumps along the way, our lives will be blessed. And our prayers will be heard.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily by making choices. I choose to have family and personal prayers. I choose to read my scriptures (and I need to choose to read them more often!) I choose to stay away from things that I know will harm me. I choose to drink hot chocolate instead of coffee! I choose soda over beer. and I choose go to church every Sunday with my family. The whole 3 hours...and trust me...that is a struggle sometimes with 3 young boys! I choose to follow the teachings of the Prophet. And because of these daily choices, I feel great!

We just moved, but in our last ward I got to work with the youth and I LOVED it! I worked with the young women in our ward for a long time and had a blast! So many fun things happen in the youth programs and I am happy I was a part of it. And then I got to be the music chorister for the primary children. Oh man, that was good times! Lots of fun games and activities. But most importantly, we learned about the gospel together through music. But it doesn't really matter what calling I have in the ward, or what things I am doing. Because as long as I attend church I get to refresh my mind, my testimony, and myself.
