Hi, I'm Andy
I'm father to four, husband, and oldest of six boys.I study Old English literature and love teaching. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am the father of four children and husband to a beautiful wife. I'm currently working on a PhD in Medieval Literature, the first in my family to go this far in academics. I love talking about theology, pop culture, and the myths that make up the belief systems of people. I also love riding my motorcycle every chance I get.
Right now, I work part time security, teach part time, go to school full time and spend as much time with my family as I can.
Why I am a Mormon
The gospel of Jesus Christ has given me more peace, more hope, more security and more direction than I have found in anything else in life. I was fortunate to have been born into a family that crossed the plains with the pioneers on one side and a family that joined the church much more recently on the other.
I'm a Mormon because God's Holy Spirit has shown me time and time again that this is where I should be and that there is more truth in the gospel of Jesus Christ than anything else.
Personal Stories
Could you talk about your baptism?
I've heard some say that you can't really remember your baptism if you're baptised at eight. I beg to differ. I remember standing in the water with my dad. I remember talking with him before hand about the promises I would be making when I got baptised to always try to be like Jesus. I remember that after my baptism I had a huge smile on my face that took a long time to go away. I knew I had done something right and good. I knew that God was pleased with my decision.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?
When Jesus was suffering in the garden, He asked, "If it be possible, let this cup pass from me," but He also said, "Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." His complete and total obedience to our Father in Heaven is something I try to follow. I frequently fail to be totally obedient, but I try.
How I live my faith
Right now, I'm helping work with the Sunday School in several congregations. I've taught youth and adults the concepts of the gospel and love that more than just about anything.
I try my best to be a worthy husband and father for my family and show that living the gospel is a thing of joy.
