Hi, I'm Karlie
I am a college student. I love learning about people and cultures. I want to work with children. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a college student studying Human Development with a minor in International Development. I am the fourth child in a family of ten children and I love it. Some of my hobbies are dancing, listening to music, reading, boating, swimming, viewing theatrical performances, spending time with family and friends, and traveling! I have traveled to Ecuador doing humanitarian work in an orphanage and it was a great experience. I love learning about different people and places in the world. Some of my goals include becoming a certified Child Life Specialist, traveling the world, having a family, and doing whatever I can to assist people in bettering their own lives and situations around the world.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon because I love my Heavenly Father and my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There have been numerous times where I have felt his love through the divine teachings found in the Book of Mormon, Bible, and other teachings from the living prophets and apostles that lead our church through revelation from God. Through the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we are told that we can be together with our families for forever and that, to me, is one of the most amazing gifts that God has given his children. I am a Mormon because I know that this church is true and the teachings found therein are also true. I know that God loves his children and that His son, Jesus Christ, atoned for the sins of the world so that we could repent when we make mistakes and sin, so that we can change and progress on our journey to become like God. I know that God has put prophets and apostles on the earth to lead his church through divine revelation and guidance and through their words we can receive the word of God. I also know that, because we are all God's children, He loves each and everyone one of us and wants us to be happy. He allows us to pray to Him and receive guidance and revelation of our own to help us in our individual lives. I am a Mormon because I love God and His son Jesus Christ, I know they love me and that they want me to return to them by living the teachings and principles taught in this, the true church of God.
Personal Stories
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Prayer is a way for me to commune with my Father in Heaven and tell Him the things that I am grateful for and also communicate with Him my fears, desires, dreams and wishes. I can also turn to Him through prayer and ask for forgiveness for the things that I have done wrong. Through prayer I have received peace, forgiveness, and great blessings in answer to the things that I have asked for or communicated to Him. Prayer is a way for me to talk to my Father in Heaven and feel of His love for me.
How I live my faith
I live my faith my participating both in my community and in my ward. In my community I have volunteered with various organizations such as the Children's Justice Center and the Family Support and Treatment Center. I serve because that is what God would have me do and it is a way for me to be an example of Christ and share his love with others. Also, I am a Visiting Teaching Supervisor in my ward right now. That means I check up on and check if the girls in our ward are being visited and that someone knows how they are doing and has seen them and talked with them. I then report that information to the girl who is in charge of me. It is a system to make sure that every woman in my ward is being watched over and taken care of.
