I am from Jakarta, Indonesia..

I love to watch and to play soccer..
I am a student in Brigham Young University-Hawaii.
I am majoring in Information System..
I grew up as a Mormon and served a full time mission in the Utah Ogden Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

My parent are convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I grew up in the Church to follow my parents. When I was in Junior High School, I questioned myself about my beliefs. I questioned if the Church is true and if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I prayed and asked God about my questions. I felt the Spirit came into my heart and gave me peaceful feeling that I never felt before. Because of that I know the Church is True and Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.

I am grateful to learn fully of God's commandments that I keep in my life. The teaching of the Church helped me to reach my potential.

Personal Stories

Can you think of a specific challenge in your family that Gospel Principles helped overcome?

When I was 17 years old, my older sister passed away. It was probably the greatest trial I received in my life. My heart filled with grief and sorrows. I questioned God's love for me and I started to ask "Why me?". I decided to pray and ask God for comfort. I felt the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. My grief and sorrows were gone. Christ did taken away my grief and sorrows. The knowledge that I will see my sister again gave me hope. The knowledge that our family had been sealed forever gave motivation to keep the commandments and strive to be worthy to see my sister again. I know the God lives and He is our Father in HEaven. I know that family can be together forever by obeying God's laws and ordinances. I overcame the sorrow of death through the Plan of Happiness

How I live my faith

Knowing that I am a son of God helps me to reach my potential. I am trying my best to keep the commandments, so I can find true happiness in my life. I view God's commandments as blessings. I know that Heavenly Father will be mindful of those who seek Him. Example is the best teacher. Living what I know to be true is really important to me.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

We can't return to our Father in Heaven with our sins. We can't pay the penalty of our mistakes. Jesus Christ had suffered our pains, sickness, sins, and sorrows of you and me. He is our Savior because through Him, we can be saved. Jesus Christ did not take our personal responsibility to follow Him. We need to believe in Him, repent of our sins, be baptized by proper authority, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and strive to keep His commandments. I personally had experience this in my life. I am not perfect and I made few mistakes myself. As I repent and strive to avoid those mistakes again, I fell the cleansing power of the Savior. I know without a doubt that He died for our sins. I know that by following him, we can find true happiness and joy in our life.

Have you ever met a perfect person? I doubt it. Why? Because everyone makes mistakes. When you make a mistake or are confused on what you should do, you want someone to help you, right? We all need someone to help us. We all need a Savior. We always hear that Jesus Christ saved us, but what does that truly mean? It not only means that he suffered and died for you personally, it means that he lived and lives for us too. He wants to help us. Jesus Christ is the only one who underestands everything that we go through. He not only wants to make up for the mistakes we make, but he wants to carry our burdens too. All we need to do is let him carry our burdens. Everyone faces personal challenges and Jesus is there to help. Everyone makes a mistake qa some point in life too. The beauty of having a Savior, is the fact that we can be forgiven. Sometimes our hands get dirty, but they can always be washed clean.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No. The church advocates principles and doctrine but does not endorse a certain political party or candidate. If you look in the United States Congress, you'll see members of the Mormon church sitting on both sides of the aisle from the current Senate Majority Leader to a 2008 presidential candidate.

However, the church is involved in the public arena when political initiatives intersect with principles of Christ's gospel. When this happens, the church will release a statement advocating certain principles and encouraging members to uphold these principles. This type of action often leads to confusion. Church support for an initiative for religious reasons should not be taken to imply support for a particular political party. These are two distinctly separate activities.
