About Me

I'm currently in college studying health education. I have a passion for nutrition, exercise, and overall wellness. I hope to teach health and dance in a local high school once I graduate. I also work part time in addition to my schooling. I enjoy dancing, long-boarding, exercising, cooking, and reading.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon family, but I chose for myself to continue practicing my religion, because I'm definitely happier when I do. I feel closer to God and can feel His love in my life when I'm attending church, praying, helping others, and reading the scriptures regularly. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings genuine happiness different than anything I've ever experienced.

How I live my faith

Each Sunday I participate in a class specifically designed for new members. I help teach lessons for the new members about basic principles found in the Bible and Book of Mormon such as faith, charity, prayer, etc.

I also make monthly visits to other women in our church just to strengthen friendships and provide assistance when needed.

What is the Relief Society?

It's our church's organization for women (18 yrs and older). We meet together each Sunday to learn more about Jesus Christ and His gospel. We also meet for more casual activities 1-2 times a month. Our main purpose is to strengthen families and provide relief for those in need. To fulfill this purpose, we participate in a wide variety of activities: humanitarian projects, visiting the sick, cooking meals for new mothers, learning homemaking skills, etc.

The Relief Society is the organization in the Church where women come together to strengthen, serve, and teach each other. It's Motto is "Charity Never Faileth" which women of the Church live by to bring relief to the weary and down trodden. Women meet as a Relief Society each week to learn about the Gospel and grow closer to Jesus Christ. Women are asked to serve in many capacities within the Relief Society and give of their time and talents. There are also activities where women share skills and do service for those in their community as well as victims of disasters around the world.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No. The church advocates principles and doctrine but does not endorse a certain political party or candidate. If you look in the United States Congress, you'll see members of the Mormon church sitting on both sides of the aisle from the current Senate Majority Leader to a 2008 presidential candidate.

However, the church is involved in the public arena when political initiatives intersect with principles of Christ's gospel. When this happens, the church will release a statement advocating certain principles and encouraging members to uphold these principles. This type of action often leads to confusion. Church support for an initiative for religious reasons should not be taken to imply support for a particular political party. These are two distinctly separate activities.
