About Me

I am a passionate, purpose-driven wife, mother, and entrepreneur. I got married at the age of 30 after a five year career as a Technical Recruiter in Washington, DC. While I am primarily a stay at home mom, I moonlight as a part time independent technical recruiter out of my home.

In my spare time I love to travel, work in the garden, and come up with new house projects. I'm a vegetarian/vegan and I drink green smoothies every day for better health. I have two spirited children, my husband is a computer geek, and we have a dog named Indiana Jones.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born into the Church, neither of my parents were very active. My dad doesn't go to church and my mom became more active in my teens and is now very active. I was on my own when it came to developing a personal testimony of the truths taught by the Church. While my journey hasn't been easy, I have always felt a continued confirmation of the truthfulness of the Gospel as taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am grateful for the peace and the freedom that it gives me to learn God's will for me and follow it.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

In Matthew it talks about Gifts of the Spirit in detail. God gives us these gifts when we are living righteously, so that we can use them to bless the lives of those around us. It is important to pray for these Spiritual Gifts to come when we need them to help others.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving in my ward as one of the Webelos Den Leaders. I love working with 10 year old boys in spite of their stinky feet. Past callings have included teaching in various capacities, as well as helping out with Emergency Preparedness. I attend church regularly and look for opportunities to serve my ward members and neighbors.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

A friend of mine once answered this question beautifully so I will use his answer. The temple isn't secret, it is sacred. So sacred and personal that members of the Church don't discuss their experiences with each other unless they feel it appropriate, and even then, only within the walls of the temple.

We want everyone to be able to enter the Temple and feel of the sweet and beautifully peaceful aroma and spirit there. A Temple is a holy and sacred place. Unlike regular church buildings which are also sacred, Temples are specially reserved as places to be separate from worldly influences. Therefore, only those who are living such a life may enter, so as to preserve the Temple's sacredness. But we want everyone to qualify so that they may enter and feel of that spirit. It isn't hard to qualify, but it does take some effort. All that is required is for one to live a Christlike life with a heart that only desires to do good.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Jesus Christ. The name of our curch is the Curch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When Christ was on the earth He started a church and it was organized by apostles, prophets, pastors, and teachers. Of course the organization that he set up later fell because people didn't want to hear from them. So later on, in the 1800s, Christ and Heavenly Father found it to be the right time to bring that same organization back to the earth. And they then called another prophet, the same way Christ did when he was on the earth. And that Prophet's name was Joseph Smith.
