Hi, I'm Kyle
I love to sing and act, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
Well, I was born and raised in Texas. I am Texan through and through. I used to ride horses all of the time, but lately I have been focusing on music and acting. I love to bring music into people's lives. Music is the universal language. I also love learning history, especially world history. I have gone to college for one year to study acting. I want to be a Broadway actor after I finish school. But right now I am a missionary in the Montana Billings Mission, and I absolutely love it!!!!!!
Why I am a Mormon
I have been a Mormon my whole life, but I have still had to know the truthfulness of this Church for myself. Since I was baptized at eight years old, I have been finding my own testimony of this Church and its' teachings. I can say that I know that this Church is true. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today, Thomas S. Monson. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. I know that by following Jesus Christ, we can return to live with our Heavenly Father. I know that through the Atonement of jesus Christ that all men can be saved.
Personal Stories
Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?
There are currently over 350 missions in the world. They go from California to Japan. They are divided up either geographically or by city. For example, my mission is the whole state of Montana and a third of Wyoming. But some are just certain cities or parts of cities, such as the Houston East Mission. Each mission is overseen by a mission president, who is in charge of all the missionaries in that particular mission. Each mission has a mission home, which is the center of the mission. From there the mission president oversees the mission.
Right now I am serving in the Montana Billings Mission. For two years I am going around sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. I have a companion, and we go door to door to offer people the message of Christ. I love being a missionary. It is definitely hard work, but it's worth it. I am a direct representative of Jesus Christ. Where else would I want to be at 19 years old?
Why do Mormons go on missions?
I am on a mission because I want to serve our Heavenly Father. I want to bring the world the truth of the restored Gospel. I know that as a missionary, I am bringing people closer to Jesus Christ. Serving a mission is the least that I can do to re-pay the Lord for giving us His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. The way I look at it, if I live to be 100 years old, I get 98 years to myself. Two years is not a long time to give my whole self to the Lord. I am also serving a mission because it is a responsibility that I have. I know that I am supposed to be here. It is going to be the best two years of my life. From October 2010 to October 2012, I am in the Lord's service.
How does making right choices help us make more right choices?
When we make right choices, we feel very good. We come to find out that when we want to continue to feel good, we do more good things. When you do something wrong, you never feel good about it, so you stop doing it. It's just like when we have really good ice cream, we always want more. Always do good things, because you will continue to want to feel good.
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Well, right now I am serving a mission. I have only been out for two months. The first three weeks that I was in my first area, I went through the hardest time in my life. I felt completely alone. I was so close to going home. And even though I have been a member of the Church all of my life, I had never really thought that I needed prayer. But those first three weeks in my first area, I finally had to kneel down in prayer. I asked our Heavenly Father for help. I left it up to Him to help me. I put all of my trust in Him. Two weeks later, I woke up, and I felt the most overwhelming feeling of peace. I knew right then that Heavenly Father answers our prayers. Maybe not when WE think we need them, but He answers them when we need it. He knows exactly what all of our own needs are, so he will never let us down. Prayer is a direct way for us to talk with our Heavenly Father. He wants us to pray. We should pray always. No matter where you are, even a prayer in your mind is heard by God.
How can your talents and gifts bless others?
I believe, and our church believes, that all of our gifts and talents are a gift from our Heavenly Father. He has given each of us an ability to do something, and He wants us to use those abilities for the good of everyone. I have been blessed with the ability to sing. I am not the best, nor will I ever be the best. But I use the voice that I have to bring music to people. I am always finding ways to improve my talents, and that pleases Heavenly Father so much. Just like when we get gifts at Christmas or for our birthdays, the people who give us the gifts want us to use them. Every single person has a talent or gift. Some people are good at math, some are good at football, some are good at acting, etc. Always use what talents you have to benefit everyone.
How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?
By centering our lives on Jesus Christ. We should read from the scriptures daily as a family. We should have family prayer and family home evening. We should treat all of our family members with respect, and try to serve each other.
How I live my faith
I am living my faith right now by serving a full-time mission for the Lord from October 2010 to October 2012. I have voluntarily given up two years of my life so that I can spread the message of Jesus Christ. By serving my mission, I know that Heavenly Father with bless me beyond belief. I am living my faith by doing what the Lord has commanded me to do.
