I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in NC and enjoy the beautiful weather here. I have 2 kids and 1 on the way. In 1.5 more years I will graduate from law and business school and plan on working in Finance / M&A. Squash, soccer, and La liga are some of my favorite hobbies.

I like having fun and really enjoy friendships. People really make me happy, especially my kids and wife! Talking about beliefs and my values is one of my favorite things to discuss.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. I like being happy. I like when those around me are happy. Following the teachings of the Mormon Church brings me more happiness than anything any other thing I have found. That same happiness has enhanced the happiness of my family and friends. It is available to everybody. It makes good times sweeter and hard times more manageable. It is Gods truth on earth.

How I live my faith

I go to church on Sunday and participate in the meetings. My family and I spend time together on Monday night learning about the gospel and I try to implement those teachings in my day to day experiences. Tuesday nights I help a local Cub Scout Pack and really enjoy the friendships I make there. There are a few families a friend and I visit every so often to make sure they are doing alright and have really enjoyed their friendship as well. We talk about God and the words of his prophets.

I try and learn about truth in diverse community organizations and find great satisfaction in talking with others who have values and beliefs. Reading in the scriptures really helps give me perspective in life and fills me with joy and Gods love.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. I've never even met the man.

One night I was on the front row of a concert. A big star came to the edge of the stage and held out his hand. EVERYONE rushed forward, climbing over each other, pushing and wedging themselves along, just to touch him. I almost got caught up in that too, and was about to rush ahead when a little voice kicked in "He's just a man. What's the big deal?" At that moment I vowed to never adulate anything less than deity. I will not go to my knees for anyone but a Loving God.

I respect Joseph Smith like I respect any man who tries his best to live according to his conscience. I hope maybe one day I'll get to chat with him over lunch--or over whatever kind of meal they offer in the life beyond. But I cannot worship a man, for why should I place and value one person any higher than another?

Joseph Smith was a great man and we revere him as such because of the great and important things he accomplished. We do not worship Joseph Smith or serve him. We study about his life, because of the great significance of Joseph Smith's first vision and the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the priesthood authority. It is a series of remarkable historical events.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Rochester, New York on a business trip and I found time to visit the nearby town of Palmyra and the Sacred Grove. I was able to see and study and review the circumstances surrounding the events and experiences of Joseph Smith. This was no chance happening or coincidence.

We worship Our Heavenly Father and His Son, the resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ.
