About Me

I am a college student. I am not currently married, but would like to be someday.
I love to read, go to the movies, hang out with friends and family, and go to church.

Why I am a Mormon

Because I like the structure that the Church provides, like that we are one big family in that we call each other brother and sister. .
Furthermore, whenever I went to Church with my friend who introduced me to it I always felt the Spirit that I never felt in the Methodist Church in which I was born and raised. But the most important thing is that when I prayed about whether or not this Church and the Book of Mormon are true Heavenly Father told me that they are both true. And that this was the right decision. Which it absolutely was, the best decision I've made in my life to this point!

Why do Mormons go on missions?

It's a commandment. We are taught that we need to share the gospel with everybody and what better way to do it than going on missions?

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

Because we baptize the dead, we believe that they deserve the blessings of being with Heavenly Father.

What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?

The gift of the Holy Ghost. I know that I always have it with me and strive to keep it with me.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

When we make one right choice it becomes easier to keep making right choices. Which in turn gives us blessings from our Father in Heaven.
For example, I made the right choice when I joined the church last August, which lead to me receiving my calling to work with the Young Women. This has blessed me because I get to learn and grow in the faith right along with them and get to them and some of their families. As well as getting to teach them and help them learn and work with and get to know the other Leaders.

How I live my faith

I have a calling in my Ward, I am a Young Women's leader. I love working with the youth. It's so much fun! They are great girls....and the young men aren't too bad either. We do get to do activities with them sometimes. I also try my very best to live the commandments. I do not drink, smoke, or do drugs, for example.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

How else are they going to be able to share the Gospel? The whole point of the mission is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and bring people unto Him. Proselyting is a great way to do that.

Our decision to serve missions is motivated by our belief in the Gospel and our desire to fulfill the Savior's command to "preach the gospel to every creature" Mark 16:15. The Gospel teaches us that we are all sons and daughters of God, and so we feel a kinship with all of God's children and a desire to help them enjoy the peace in this life that the Gospel provides.Our missionaries are not salesman and won't take much of your time, but I know that your decision to invite them into your home will change your life for good!

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

The short answer is that, for a time, God commanded it. It was a challenge for those families commanded to practice it, but they accepted the challenge with faith.

There have been many times throughout history that God has asked His people to do difficult things or things that go against the norms of society. For example, God has commanded plural marriage in the Bible. He commanded Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, stopping it at the last minute. He commanded the ancient Israelites to destroy all inhabitants of many of the settlements in the land of Canaan when they returned to the promised land.

The knowledge of these things challenges our faith but we must recognize that God's ways are not our ways and He controls all life.

If plural marriage is something that keeps you from the church or keeps you from investigating further, I invite you to consider this: it really comes down to one thing. Was Joseph Smith a true prophet or not? If he was, then the commandment came from God and He restored His church through Joseph. Answer that question and the rest falls into place. I am happy that I did.
