Hi, I'm Bec
For 24 years I was a devout and faithful Jehovah witness, before meeting two Mormon missionaries.
About Me
Born and raised country girl. I was a news Journalist and still write but these days It's more poetry and philosophical papers than news. I run my own financial planning and accounting business whilst studying a bachelor of business/commerce.
Why I am a Mormon
I was raised a Jehovah witness and deeply loved my faith until the age of 24 when circumstances in my life began me questioning what I was being taught and wether it was the "truth" I left the Jehovah witness in search of answers, for 3 years I searched, I meditated, I begged and I prayed. I looked into Witchcraft, Wicca, Buddhism, Taoism, Kabbalah and various Christian denominations, until finally deciding there was no god. On the occasional weekend I attended Mormon Church with my Mormon friend but I thought they were all crazy and wasn't interested. My friend wasn't very good at explaining her faith. So when she gave me a book of Mormon, I put it in a box under my bed. One night after her and my friendship had ended, I began praying about the Mormon religion, my friend might have seemed nuts but some of the other Mormons I met seemed lovely and sane. So I prayed and asked god, if the Mormons had the truth. Suddenly I heard a very loud male voice in my head say "you'll never know unless u read the book for yourself" so I began reading the book of Mormon. A month later two sister missionaries came to my door, I sat them down and preceded to berate them for what my friend had told me they believe and then corrected them on what I felt they should believe. To my surprise, they agreed with me and not my very strange Mormon ex friend. After that I began studying with the sisters and although I agreed with everything I was learning, I still had a lot of trouble converting having been raised a Jehovah witness I wanted to take a very intellectual approach to my faith, but faith is by it's own definition is belief without reason. It took 6 months before I was baptised and although sometimes I still struggle with things I don't understand, I know whenever I pray and ask for faith, heavenly farther not only gives me faith he also gives me answers. With faith and prayer I see evidence of heavenly farther every day in my life.
What I have come to know is this, I have never before experienced such peace in my life. Through thick and thin come what may, If I pray and remain close to heavenly farther I always have peace. I could not live without the gospel in my life, to guide me and support me. The Holy Ghost is always there, strengthening me, fortifying me, granting me comfort and security. With out the gospel i could live my life but the gospel makes it a life worth living.
How I live my faith
Everyday I remember what Heavenly farther has given me, the Joy, the peace, the contentment, security and friends beyond compare. For this reason I try each day to be the best person I can be and care for, love and support the people around me. To give back to society and to my friends and church.
I look for ways to be a better friend, neighbour and civilian. Where possible with out pressure I try to share my faith, but more importantly I try to make sure my example and my life, give evidence of the gospel the power it can have in ones life
